I've never been to a drag strip before, even to watch, so this was my first time out.

I had a great time. Simon will have some more to add I'm sure.

So it turns out you need a helmet to race a convertible, despite what they say on their site.

Anyhow, to make it short, my first run of three was my best:

R/T: 1.065
60: 2.514
330: 6.626
1/8: 10.098
1/8 MPH: 70.94 MPH
1000: 13.066
1/4: 15.605
1/4 MPH: 88.88 MPH

I had a great time and hope to improve.

I liked your car buddy nice and quiet on the track!

Hope to see you out there two weeks from now.

Everyone was saying how quiet my car is. Strange because on the street or in town people say it sounds louder than stock.

I'm impressed to see a few TM guys out, and both of us did pretty well for never running before.

As for simon, he has a new fastest time at 13.67, and a new record as the first known TM to grenade an OBX.

Yep, it was fun, 4 old school Turbo Mopars, :thumb:

Glad you guys liked it, I probably won't be out again this year, :(

How did the Omni do? What happened with the weather, you guys are home early, did it rain alot more?

Track closed due to rain with him next to stage.

I'm hoping to go back in a couple weeks, but I really need to fix that damn clutch. I think that I could run a few tenths faster if it was in better shape.

All said, it seems that it isn't as bad in first through third, and I'm hitting the 1/4 mile mark at the top of third.

How about that clutch job, :eyebrows:

I need money now to fix my van,

I'll think about it. I don't have a lot of money to burn either. So've you just had it for the year or just need time to fix your van and get a new diff?

Don't know, I guess it depends on what OBX has to say. I honestly don't have the time to do this right now. I have a 3 speed TBI minivan at work, I need to drive it and if its good, might just install it now until I get this one fixed. I am done drag racing for a bit. I used to have a backup vehicle, my 98 Jimmy but my brother is using it for his new business so I now I am screwed for cars. I have my 75 van but with gas prices, it wil cost me $150 a week in gas.

So it seems that the top end in my car isn't too bad, but I can feel it choking a bit over 5500rpm on my tach. Other than working on short times, what can I reasonably do to get some better times?

Hey I've got a somewhat choppy and soundless video of you running your 13.67 if you're interested. 9 megs.

Glad you had a great time on your first trip out! Welcome to the club :thumb:

Sound like fun too, I cannot wait to get the car ready and get it out, and get out with a group of fellow enthusiasts too!
