BIG PSI

Which 8 valve head would be better to use on S-T-R-E-T-C-H, the 782 casting or a G head ? I am planning on running around 25 psi with the new setup. I do have the 1mm oversize valves already for the 782 casting head plus Ohio Rob will be doing some serious porting and polishing on that head.

Thanks
Chuck

I prefer the 782 head, better torque and our pig vans need it.

Depends on how much porting and how big of valves. Real benefits to the G head are when they are fully porter out as far as they can go with the big valves...

+1 on sticking with the 782 cyl head. Unless your getting a calibration to properly suit the G-head, it'll be a dog out of boost. I learned this the hard way!!!! ;)

Which head is more prone to detonation?

Dez is running 26 psi boost on a 782 w/o detonation (pump gas). It's in the cal. Roughen up the intake runners for better fuel vaporization and polish the combustion chambers. Another trick to reduce the detonation on any head is:

dez is also running an alky setup which makes his car way less prone to detonate, because not only does the alky cool the intake charge like woah, but also richens up the mixture, because it's alky. its just how it works.
