Reminds me of the ride along at Bondurant School of High Performance Driving. They put 12 of us in one of those extended passenger vans and took us around the course with an instructor driving. The tires were rolled over on the sidewalls and I *SWEAR* it was just about to flip over:wow1:.

^LOL

I actually had that maxima pic up on my Dynasty cardomain many moons ago. They have a torsion beam/ trailing arm rear setup and struts in the front just like a dynasty.. but of course they are FAR superior.

Did i mention my dynasty will pick up the inside rear now too? :D

and I *SWEAR* it was just about to flip over

I wouldnt drive one like that.. But maybe im scarred by experience;) I got a mid 90s blazer WAY up on two wheels from shifting weight around a corner, and i actually flipped a lifted CJ on the street. :yuck: Disabled 1st gear lockout, high compression small block, and mis-adjusted ratchet shifter sure can send you sideways quick. Whch is why i would never combine all that on one of MY vehicles.:o

Whats going on with that rear axle? Looks like rear wheel steer...

^Good eye!!

I put an 89 daytona axle in it, which moved the wheel forward an inch or more.. I didnt know until i put it in. I ran one event like that and then put the dynasty axle back in after i welded a plate to it to stiffen it up :D and that moved the wheel back to where it is supposed to be :p

Off topic, but here are a couple more from the same rallyX. The van is my 89 turbo LE, very, very stock.

When I used to live out there in Phoenix, I used to replace glass in the Bondorant cars when they got wrecked. One day I had to work on the instructors VW. I asked where he was and they told me on the track in the Saleen Taurus, Yep they made them back then. They told me to go get him. So I gladly took my glass van on the track to get him! It was a fun yet scary experience to ride the track in a Ford Econoline glass van. Safelite would have been pissed if I laid it over!

I told him his car was too high for the kind of tires he was running. He needed to lower it. After this he came up to me and told me I was right!

Did he save it or go over?

Johnny

That photo was shot on the way down, so yes, he saved it. He is a very good driver, really.
He has sense then sub-framed it to use double wish bone a-arms in front in place of struts.
I have not seen it finished.

This is my 82 Vanagon Westfalia at Deals Gap/ The Dragons Tail. It was just as fast as the RX7s downhill because it would NOT body roll. Look at the tires. They're begging for mercy. Poor 13" rubber...
