Looking at the Monroe part numbers for front struts on the Daytona, I see that Jan 1986 through 1988 are one part number. 1989 through the end (1993) are a different part number. I have OEM versions of both years laying around the shop and I never noticed any difference.
Can someone tell me what changed between 1988 and 1989 that requires a different frt strut?
Thanks~

I think the strut bearing/bushing is different. I want to say the springs are different also

when a friend bought Koni's for his Gbody oh about 11 years ago you had to upgrade to 86+ strut mounts because supposedly the 84-85 were different according to Koni's info. But not switching at 88/89 like the OP is saying.

89/90 are stiffer. I went threw this when i was swapping my 88 j-body to 89 G/J-body suspension minus the k-frame and Control arm's. monroe suck when it comes to DD or performance go with KYB's even their G-spec shock/struts out perform monroe

The Monroe tech people advised me that basiclly the '89 and newer strut is about a 1/2 shorter and has .375 more travel.
They sent me a little chart, but I can't post JPG attachments here.
