Its only a couple months away, but I just wanted to start a thread to keep everyone posted and find out who's going.

2006 Mopar Nats
"Plymouth Barracuda Tribute”
August 11-13, 2006
National Trail Raceway
Columbus, Ohio

www.moparnats.org

I'm awaiting response if the FWD shootout will be a heads up race like last year, will post more when I know more.

I was just thinking of starting a similiar thread after talking about it in that thread in the lounge! But yea, I'm definitely going to make my yearly trip out to Columbus. The Charger will be up and running w/the t2 swap by then and I'm so stoked to take it out on the cruises!

So it looks like I won't have anything boosted there. But my dad just recently got an 05 magnum R/T(yes it has a daytona R/T Badge) and we'll be there. It's silver and knowing my dad we'll either be in a cloud of smoke or pulled over. I might bring my neon down too just for shits and e-brakes, i mean giggles. So if anyone is there feel free to give me a ring. 419-566-5963

I'll be there on Saturday and Sunday. The plan is to meet up with Reeves and Clay. I'm sure we'll meet up with the Chicago guys in the track since they always seem to pit in about the same area. Just see if you can save a little room for the '77 New Yorker as parking is usually at a premium. Hopefully, I'll find someone interested in buying her. Dave, she's probably more reliable than your $125 Neon but not nearly as good on fuel and we're looking to get more than $125 for her. (More like $1000) She will be available for large rolling parties when we get there and especially in the evening for cruising and whatever.

Anybody go to Brice and Heath? Brice was really good from about 7-9:30 then the cops got outta control as did the locals. It seemed to me like everyone at Brice was mellow. I threw the cops cones off the road and couldn't really get any crowd response. The cops also didn't like it when I asked how I was supposed to do a burnout when they were blocking the road. And how I pointed out they would cause accidents by blocking it.

Anyway, let's hear everyone else's stories.

This was my frist year checking out Heath, and it was a good time, lots o burnouts.

Had a great time at the nats, finally home now and it's time for the hangover to fade and the sunburn to peel.

Lots of nice turbo-mopars spread out around the parking lot and other various locations, got to talk to a bunch of other turbo-mopar people and see a load of cool old-school mopars as well. As always, a good time and well worth the drive.

Results of the FWD Shootout?

08-14-2006, 09:44 AM
I hung out on Brice Sat. night for a while. Lots of burnouts going on. But the people were starting to get crazy. The police did block off the inside lane where I was for about 10-15 minutes, then a guy talked the officer into moving :D. Probably the best burnout was when they got a Cummins Ram to do a burn out and he shoot sot all over an unsuspecting kid. He fell outa the chair, it was the funniest thing.

Not sure on the FWD results. Only got to see the first round. Looked like JT was out and OhioRob made it through.

I went out 1st round, hard to make up a second even with an .081 light on a pro tree ;)

Yeah it was a good event except i was not impressed with the show fields.. i think Carlisle had a nicer setup with the classes being split up and everything but thats just my opinion.. We plan on showing the GLH's next year and Greg should be able to race his by then if it all goes well..

We had a good time and hung out with Gary most of the weekend.. yes i agree that was hilarious with the kid getting the soot off that Diesel.. that was hilarious!!! However, i thought the Turbo Caravan was great too! :)

We got to meet Clay as well, and saw him in line at the food stand! :) Good getting to see some new faces.. saw Pats Shelby Charger, but no Pat to be found.. where were ya buddy??

That sucks! He was still going strong when we finally left. (He had a Sunday Cruise with a bye into the Final.) That makes two years in a row with him having problems with his car in the Final Round. We thought he had it sewn up! That's why we left! :(

The best time was the hanging out and cruising in Heath! I even had the New Yorker out there letting it rip. We (Reeves, R/T, Nathan, and Big Brother Tim Doyle, the Chicago guys, Clay, Nico, and myself) yelled words of encouragment to the Lofink's as they passed in front of us at Pizza Hut. I guess the rest of you were on Brice as we didn't see some of you.

Apparently, I was asking too much as there were no offers other than "That Guy". :(

Did one of you guys lose a chair? We somehow ended up with an extra one in the truck.

It would have to have been Reeves' or one of the Doyle's. I only had my one that was given to me for not sharing Doritos in Chicago at SDAC-14 and it matches my Spirit thanks to Big Brother Tim. That one is present and accounted for!

Hey just wanna say I had a great time and it was nice seeing you guys again. I figure three or four more yrs and I might have all your names down. Anyone going to the Chrysler Classic @ Norwalk?

As for Rob's car. He moved the radiator to the rear of the car and must have got a air pocket in the system some where. He was over heating and didn't wanna risk the car for 250 bucks.

I didn't come back home till yesterday morning (yeah I'm a travel wuss). All rested up now and getting caught up some.

Perfect weather for the Nats!!

Even though I sat in the SDAC tent on the midway all 3 days and never got down to the pits to see the cars or anyone, I had a good time and many of you stopped by to say hi. I met some of you for the first time, and it was nice to meet you all.

SDAC did pretty good at the Nats this year, though many vendors didn't do as well as last year. I thought the Friday crowd was bigger than I have seen before, and Saturday never really looked crowded on the midway. Sunday was nearly dead, as usual.

Some of my "high" points ... (in no particular order)

Alex doing a wheelie as he rode by on his mini bike :thumb:

Seeing Lon (DasMopar) again after many years

Paul (ucku) bringing by his turbo mini. It had the Mas motor that I recently sold him in it. Nice mini!

Being able to drive a tm to the event (my Daytona)

Having 3 cars parked around the tent brought a lot of folks by it. Craig's 86 GLHS (as seen on TV) was behind the tent, and Randy's 05 SRT4 ACR was to my left.

The Nats was a good time as usual. Looking forward to next year already.

I really liked the orange cuda' in the midway. I don't know what company did it but it was done up with lots of carbon fiber and custom suspension and a new hemi. They took it to brice and it sounded like a ferrari engine. it got the back end loose from a 20-30 roll quite a few times. I also liked the cuda' at the keisler booth. It had a new 6.1 mated to a manual. It was wearing plates that read 70 SRT8. The place seemed more corwded this year than usual. Maybe a new venue is in order? I was highly disappointed in TM turnout, but I can't complain too much since I didn't have one there.

Sure it wasnt the one done up by MCR? (Muscle Car Restorations). They had one that was g-machined w/ a 6.1L supercharged hemi. It was pretty freakin sweet!

Who was it with the turbo-minivan staying at the Best Western on the north side (dublin granville rd)?

We were chilling in the lot and saw it pull in, the driver was wearing a turbo-mopar shirt but wasn't anyone I recognized. the van was still parked at the hotel Sunday morning when we went to the track.

Too bad no one was interested in the New Yorker! I really need to get her sold. She needs to find a happy home!
