I found this car on Craig's list for $500. It definitely needs some work. The body is rust free and straight which is important to me because I can't do major body work. I bought it so I'd have something to do this winter when it's slow. But that is a double edge sword. When ever I have something of my own to do my business phone won't stop ringing. And it's already started. The first week I've had this I've been busy. Which is good because then I'll be able to afford the parts.

Things it's going to need:
>front fenders
>front lower spoiler, maybe complete nose cone
>LF mirror
>Dash, cracked bad and a/c control mounting tabs broken off
>SBEC, tach inop
>engine refreshed and re-gasketed. Head gasket popped while moving it in the parking lot. If I can find and SRT-4 engine cheap, it'll go in here and not my van.
>Pop up headlight control module. I haven't diagnosed it yet.
>Vacuum lines. I already fixed those.
>Drivers door hinge broke and was poorly welded on.
>Some fuseable links blew and the the wires were twisted together. I'm going to install a later fuse box and remove the links

I really like the interiors in these except for the turn signal switch.

looks good, all that oil leaking must of saved it from rust.

That car didn't spend it's life in Arizona did it? Good plan to keep your shop phone ringing, get a project you want to work on:D

I'm not a fan of the turn signal switch either. I might use a steering column out of a Lebaron where it's on the column instead.

The fact that it's an AZ car is what saved it from rust.

You say that like it's a bad thing. That's probably why the dash is all cracked up.

Almost looks like a twin to my new car, except mine has the black leather interior.

A.J. the turn signal just takes getting used to. My '90 LeBaron has that
also. I kinda like it now that I know where it's at.

I like the white/red combo. Should look nice when you're finished.

With this car I've made some discoveries that people have apparently known for years which is discouraging :). First was you can re-solder the concealed headlamp module to fix it. Next was that you can use a mini van a/c condenser instead of the car condenser to have room for the inter-cooler plumbing.

I went to the junkyard and found an '87 Shelby Daytona. I grabbed all the T-II parts including a two piece intake. I had to modify the car and build a couple of brackets to adapt the '87 rad/i.c. assembly into the '90 Daytona body.

Before:

I had to drill a new hole and open up the other.

I also had to shim up the radiator because it was hitting the lower engine mount bracket.

I also grabbed the Garret turbo thinking it would at least be a good core to rebuild. I hung it yesterday and at idle it appears to be okay compared to the smoker Mitsubishi that was on there. I couldn't run it too long. The headgasket is blown so there's no water in it. The next thing to do is remove the engine, re-bearing, re-ring, and re-gasket it. And detail the engine bay.

I eliminated the individual relays and the fusible links today. I took awhile because I had to rewire the power distribution center for my needs and also draw a schematic incase I develop a problem later on.
