Schedule 10 if you plan on hanging the turbo from it. You can also go with 11 gauge, or even 14 gauge if you put some support brackets in. Ive built a few turbo headers from 16 gauge mild steel.

Mr Mom reference. He was doing home remodeling holding a chain saw, said he was rewiring the house with 220, 221 whatever it takes.

Ron: [about rewiring the house] Yeah? Are you gonna make it all 220?
Jack: Yeah. 220... 221, whatever it takes.

Have you made a header before? Also what type of welder are you using? I can pretty much do any material, and I really dont even have to bevel the thick stuff because I use a tig welder. Your type of welder might put a hold one what you can do.

Make sure you get it cleaned out good, dont want your turbo to eat little balls of metal.
