It's finally in the car and running. But I had to modify my plans slightly, lol.

I had the car down for 8 weeks while making the change from the old hybrid to this new one. I had a OBX SS exh manifold but it moved the turbo over to the PS pump to far and I couldn't turn the exh pipe down fast enough. So that may have to go on later. I put a Mexican exh manifold on a 2004 SRT head with square ports. but before you get all knotted up, it matches a lot better than I thought it would. I had to port the top two corners of each port on the exh manifold to get it too match. But this got the car running this year instead of next year. :thumb:

Yes and still a stock turbo, for NOW.

This one is a 89 turbo II 2.2 with Venolia pistons. I made new smaller intake and now I can not only see the oil filter and dizzy, but can actually get to them.

The 2004 head is using cooper tubes in the 3 oil drain lines, which come out below the exhaust manifold. I fabbed a dual layer SS heat shield with exhaust wrap in between the SS layers. So far its working!! You can see it in pics.

I used srt4 rods which meant a I had to use a .075" thick special cometic head gasket. This raised the head up enough that I couldn't get to 249 belt to work with the small 2.5 tall blk tensioner in the stock location. So I had to move the tensioner AND I added a stationary pulley from a 96 2.4L in there as well. Then this required a new pulley cover.

Also using a separate coolant thermo housing(stock 2004 set up) so I can eliminate the annoying coolant seepage when using the one piece coolant housing intake set up.

Anyone got a turbo for sale cheap??

Thanks

Andy

Hey guys, Need to check this more often.

Not sure about another racer at turbopolusa, just yet. I am in CT with it right now and she's running good but i have to get home by next weekend? right.

My daughter drive the shadow conv over there next weekend? I am embarrassed at its appearance right now. She has hit so much stuff.
and the el cheapo paint job the previous owner applied, is showing its age.

I didnt mention it in my first post, but this engine has copper tubes in the 3 stock oil drain holes of the head. So far they are working.

see you saturday

Very nice, :thumb:

I am confused though why you had to shim up the cylinder head using SRT4 rods, they are exactly the same as our rods,

What cal are you using?

the SRT4 rods are .040" longer than ours.

Im just using the trim cal deal from FWD Performance.

From what I can find and always understood, both SRT4 and 2.5/2.2 rods are 5.945". Not sure where you got your .04" from.

Im confused now. Ill have to ask Cindy what she sold me. I installed them and the pistons stuck out of the block so I had to get a .075 thick head gasket and machine .030" off the top of the pistons.

2.2/2.5 rods specifications:
Bearing bore - center to pin bore center = 150.95 - 151.05 mm

150 millimeters = 5.90551181 inches

SRT-4 rods are 5.945 hence .040 longer

151 mm=5.94488 inches which would make it the same as the SRT-4 rod.:eyebrows:

of course that doesn't explain why his pistons etc... ended up adding .030......

Nope, bad info, I am using SRT rods in my engine, they are IDENTICAL except they use a specific bearing.

Cindy's got her match wrong but yeah, unsure why your pistons stick out further,

Which head gasket did you use. I like the way it looks, and would love to get mine to looking that nice.
