I've been into TD's for 10 years, never been so confused -

89 T2 LeBaron: It was running fine, I parked it for a week without the battery in it, borrowed it for the Wife's car.

Put the battery back in, It now won't start.

It has 60PSI fuel pressure, all ground straps are OK, cam / int. shaft timing are perfect.

Cranks, but no fire. It has Spark at distributor AND plugs!!

So far I've tried:

3 SMEC's

3 HEP's

2 coils = 1 NEW Blaster

2 distributors

2 rotor buttons

Hot wire from battery to coil

Hot wire ASD

Sprayed starting fluid in TB

The only way to get it to get even a pop / chug / fart is to rotate the distributor fully counterclockwise - then it chugs while cranking, but never runs on it's own.... :(

I've swapped EVERYTHING that has anything to do with it starting, NOTHING.

It has'nt run since the battery was put back in, so *no codes* either...

I'm confused....

I KNOW--I KNOW,

Take off your valve cover and check the cam. I bet it snapped in two. I have had the same exact symptoms as above and it happened on two differant cars. So CHECK IT !!!!!!!!!!

Okay, I see you checked spark.... what about fuel? Isn't 60 at the rail a little high?

Definate +1 on that. Smart thinkin' Chuckles.

You said you hot wired the coil to battery? So the pump sent fuel in, right?

Could also be the timing jumped (timing belt or intermediate shaft to oil pump gears) the last time it was shut off.

I had this same issue when I was SDAC on my way out of Edgewater. The darn belt slipped but they it shredded. Your problem sounds like a timing issue though...

That's interesting too because one time I was driving to work and my intermediate shaft and oil pump gear stripped each other out. Good thought!

Same thing here too. Ended up costing me the motor.

I had mine skip in my '87 CSX#252 when I shut it off. Went to go to work the next morning and nothing. Got home from work, aligned all the timing marks and they were dead on. Talked to a friend who's a Mopar tech and he told me what happened to his '87 Shelby Charger once, and to take the dist cap off with all the belt timing marks lined up, and sure enough the rotor was off... gears skipped. luckily not fatal although I did put in a different i-shaft.

I bet it's the cam snapped somewhere.

Had the i-shaft tear out on me on the way home from the track last year. Sent some schrapnel through my motor. Replaced the rod bearings and had to clean out pan and clean real good upside the block.

It sure is a pain in the a$$. Just take the distributor out and look down in the hole. You'll definately see the teeth worn off.

Men;

I'll look tonight after work, have'nt had a chance to check it out yet.

Dist drive gear sounds like a good place to start....This car has 195,000 miles on it..... :amen:

Sounds like it's just getting broken in ;)

good luck!

I have a nice intermediate shaft here if you end up needing one.

Not sure about the injectors. But when we sprayed starting fluid in the intake it wouldnt do a damn thing.

Before or after the distributors? Where did you spray the fluid at?

Latest info:

I got home from work, pulled the valve cover: Cam OK

Pulled the distributor, looked at the drive gear: OK.

More depressed than ever, I put the distributor back in.

And for the hell of it, hit the key.....
