Funny , I thought about buying that car when it was on ebay awhile back . It's very cool ! The only thing that kept me from buying it was the fact that I have a '70 Chally , EW1 , V1W , H5B5, V6B , E87 , D21 , N96 car . I hate having 2 cars with the same color scheme !!
I've actually been looking for the right '70 Bee since I sold mine . I had a 32k survivor , FK5 , V1W , V6W , E74 car . As I've gotten older , I just like to roadtrip my cars , so I decided I'd rather have a 383 . But it must be a rare & interesting color scheme , not easy to find....

I'll have to scan the pics of my Dads 70 Super Bee. It too was a 383 4 speed. Dark green with green interior. He's has a colo photo of it parked out front of Sox and Martins shop. And some b&w's in front of a coal mine when he had just purchased it new, still in his army uniform.

I REALLY like the white and blue one and have never seen one in either the blue on blue, or the blue on white cars.

Met a guy 15 years or so ago that lived in a small town near me...and when I say small, I'm talking a hundred or so. Anyways, we became acquainted because I stopped at his house, as I could see his beautiful light blue 70 Bee through an open garage door. Darn that thing was in great shape...pistol grip 383 with ram air. On a related note, one of his buddies had a white with black vinyl top 69 Coronet R/T...big block hemi 4 speed car.

Where's Ralph at? I'm pretty sure he had a Bee too...although I think his was a 69 model?

Wow! any pics? there were 3 shades of the blue metallic.
EB3 Light Blue, EB5 Medium Blue(most common) and EB7 Dark Blue and you could get only Blue, Black or White stripes on them.

On a side note the Blue stripes could only be had on Blue or White exterior body colors only.
Fender Tag & Broadcast sheet codes.
v6b= Longitudinal "C" stripe Ledger Blue
v8b= Transverse (over the deck) stripe Ledger Blue.
v88= Stripe delete yet you still got the "Super Bee" circle ONLY in White or Black on the rear 1/4's

Over the years I found 70 Bee's have no middle of the road following, you either loved it or hated it. Personally I think it was the Most Aggressive looking Bee made with the front end scowl and the smooth deck lines.

I know the Challenger of which you speak , top quality , but not mine. Mine is in circa '85 condition , previous owners removed the Shaker , painted on the '71 stripes & installed a black interior . It's like project # 482 , so I may never get around to it . Coupled with the fact that I'm lazier than a corpse (at least they're rotting).....

This pic was taken around 8 years back ,the M code 'Cuda is gone , so is the Superbird (Guess you'd need good eyes to see that in the garage) .

During that era Plymouth/Dodge were always at each others throats . Different color names , engine names (Super commando/Magnum) (Six Pack/Barrel), even cold air packages (Air Grabber/Ramcharger) .
Plymouth got Road Runner , Dodge wanted Super Bee . Plymouth got Duster , Dodge wanted Demon . Dodge got Swinger , plymouth wanted Scamp . It was a bizarre inter-company war .

I had talked to the guy with the ew1 v6b Chall there for a little bit and he said there was only one other white with blue stripes known and it had a vinyl top, so yours must be the one he spoke of, Still while not being a identical it still makes them 1 of's and in the world of being rare that is a very hard number to beat. :D. Yes I can see the bird peeking out of the garage, and the Cuda looks awesome. The Challenger looks like it has the "SE" crest on the Vinyl top? If so I would almost have to think it would have been a special customer ordered unit or a Chrysler Exec Demo. A very nice rare piece of MoPar history that survives. I can close my eyes and envision your Challenger as new and how incredible it must have looked. That Blue stripe on the white just glows.

There is a guy a few miles down the road who has a ORIGINAL ONE OWNER 70 RT/SE Triple black Hemi Auto rallye hood (one of those cars that ended up with the rallye hood due to the factory fire that destroyed the production of the shakers at the time). It has been setting in a goose barn next to a 68 Hemi Charger since the early 80's and hasn't moved. The guy won't even talk about them.

Here's mine shortly after I got it:
http://farm1.static.flickr.com/2/3711320_3e072d99ca_o.jpg

I've had it about a decade now. It was a complete basket case. The guy had parts in so many places it took weeks to get it all out of his house. He even had parts under his kids' beds. It is much better off now than when I got it but still sooooo much work to do.

And this thing ends up taking quite a bit of my time/money as well.

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3586/3612698584_2d59134104.jpg

I broke the crank in it a couple of weeks ago. It has a 440 in it but now I'm building up the 440 that was meant for the Superbee since it had more newer parts already in it.

When I first read the fender tag back in '91 I needed a daiper ! It took me about 10 years to be right place , right time , but I got it ! I know it would look awesome restored correctly , ashamed it doesn't have a better owner...
BTW , it's not an SE , something else the owner changed in the '80's .

My Bee was a basket case with no fender tag. I got lucky in that it was used as a race car so it has been mostly kept inside (no frame rot) but it has seen better days. I think it was originally B5 but the previous owner (PO) started painting it and went with the darker B7. The PO had collected a huge number of parts but, like me, the body work was the problem. I hate body work and I can't do it to save my life.

Many of the mechanical parts are good to go. The rear is an 8 3/4 with 3.55 and a sure grip. I converted it to rear disc using a kit from Baer. The fronts are now also disc and I can't remember now exactly where that kit came from (stockish setup). All of the suspension has been powder coated in semi-gloss black (including the k-frame and the 8 3/4 housing itself). Rear springs are hemi / six pack springs and front torsion bars are 1 or 2 sizes bigger than hemi / six pack. All suspension bushings are poly except for the LCAs to prevent squeaking. The transmission has also been redone and is ready to go. Most of the dash cluster and wood grain have also been redone by that expert guy in Chicago (nice work for the most part). All of the seats have been recovered, all door panels are new, ... just need some body work. It sounds so close to being done but it is soooo far away.

I would also enjoy having a Dude pick up (I know what you mean about saying you want a Dude, gotta be careful). I'm planning on the bumblebee stripe for the Bee but if I had a Dude I think I'd have to go with a reverse-C just to have two of them.

Oh and it was originally a 383 car. I don't have the original so I'm thinking somewhere around 500ci will be about right. I don't know if it was a ram air hood car or not but I've got all the stuff to make it one so it will be one when I'm done.

Cool keep us posted as it progresses. If it was an N96 car it would have a small hole punched in the firewall in the area above the wiring block, it would be about the same size as the speedo cable grommet. Broadcast sheet around? If you look inside the trunk where the side light is you may be able to tell what color stripe it had and inside the deck lid lip and jamb if it had a Bumble bee stripe. Good luck if you have any questions feel free to ask.

Interestingly enough the RR was built in the midwest back in the early 80's I'm guessing and was in a small magazine called something like Cars and Girls or Cars and boobs, anyway some of the models in the mag were topless and what not.

Again, those pics are great, even more so for you I'm sure since it's your Father's car. Personally I think the stance on that baby is perfect

This thread is specifically why I have "Coronet" as one of my saved searches on eBay!

Yes Paul the pics are special to me because he was doing that at the same time in his life that I was enjoying my Belvedere in mine.

Probably Autobuff , I'd guess I have the issue that car was in ( I have plenty of issues).......

Seeing your Belvedere reminds me , I was asking about a fender tag or buildsheet awhile back , do you have one ??

I had the build sheet in a folder back in the nineties. Im pretty sure the fender tags there. It was originally a Petty blue color.

That car should be cool when finished . It looks like a Coronet 500 , not a Bee .

Damn , my old '70 Bee sold at BJ Saturday , I should have bought it back....

Did you know there was another car at BJ up for auction on Saturday that was also previously owned by a fellow TM member? Imagine the odds of that!

Cliff was a prior owner of the yellow Superbird!

that is one freakin sweet car i love the 70s race/street look thats how we restored my dads 69swinger to the way it looked when he first got it. we found a pic of it before he bought the car "1973 when he bought it" had the for sale sign in it to boot. we put the exact same wheels same oldschool wing snorkle hood scoop, big dodge emblems on the rear quarters. we put a for sale sign in it and gave it to him for christmas i will never forget the look on his face

alright, I have to post some pics too...lol

1968 Charger R/T. My grandfather ordered it new in September of 67, took delivery October 4th, 1967. He gave it to my dad when my dad was 14 [so, about 78] (my grandfather was going to trade it in on a Subaru station wagon), and my dad drove it all through high school, and it still lives today...haha GG1 Racing Green Metallic with white interior and a 440 super trac-pack (727 torqueflight and dana 60).
We just restored it about 2 years ago, was a 2 year affair in itself, and thats working on it everyday...lol But, it wasn't that bad before, just had the usual lower quarter rust and trunk floor rust...but, its all good now. Watch the vid below if you're bored (its the whole resto)
Don't mind the rally wheels...my dad wanted something different. I personally like the green steelies better, but...oh well :p

Oops , just noticed your post . If you get a chance , post a pic of the Tag , I'm assuming in has a 999 "special order paint " code , just curious ??

BTW , I do have the copy of Autobuff with the RR inside....

'69 383 Convertible & a '69 440 car , all turds.....but rare turds . Here's a pic of the '67 383 car I still have ...

Cool car ,GG1 is a great color , but I'll agree with you , my vote would be hubcaps or wheelcovers w/ redlines...

Haha...thanks. The story on the color is pretty cool actually. Tom Hoover actually painted a few 65 dodges that color and gave them to street racers in Detroit. The reason was, at night, the car looked black, in the day, it look dark green, and in direct sunlight, it look light green...so the cops were always on edge...lol

and he had the same tires on it, but, with 8" rear, 7" front, dark green steel wheels with the original dog dishes (actually, the wheels in the first pic on the video).

Looked mean as hell...but, w/e...lol

and...thanks. Thats why he got the chrome cover...just to show it off...lol Mopar, the only ones to put real truck rears in cars...haha.
A lot of work to finish that car, though. Every minute I was off school and every minute my dad was off work, we were out there, sand, grinding, wrenching...ugh. It was fun for the first year...but, year two sucked due to our painter screwing us over...but...it happens.
But...we're about to start it all over again with my cuda...and, yes, it will have gold 7 & 8" steelies with the biggest tire that can fit in the wheel well. :p
