Just sold my 89 ES Turbo T-top and now looking for another, better car. Have refined my search. Must be an 89 in Blue, silver or white, T-tops preferred. Prefer cloth Enthusiast seats. Prefer automatic. Looking for a clean car and willing to pay a fair price rather than buying one cheap that I have to rebuild. Might still consider 87-88 cars. cash ready for the right car. Prefer clost to NJ but willing to ship from anywhare.

Really was looking for t-tops because that is what I had in 89. However, I am open to others. Please e-mail photos direct to me at njmedic1725@yahoo.com

Please tell me all the good and bad issues with the car.

Definitely want to see interior shots as well as exterior and engine.

Thanks!

Bob

I sent pictures of the 88 Shelby Z t-top car I'm thinking of selling, but never heard back.

I know of a black t-top shelby z right down the road, runs and drives, been sitting so probably needs a fuel pump here shortly. But I know someone else who is trying to purchase it so it may not be there for long. I also know of an 88 CS that is in desperate need of a sale. Needs some work and it's WAY too far..

I'm willing to sell but maybe you're not ready to buy? :)

Looking to buy but yours does not have t-tops. I owned an 89 ES Turbo blue over silver with t-tops. Bought new in 89 and sold in 91 to buy my first SUV. So that is what I really am looking for again. Thanks! Have a few leads but both are heavily modified. I'd rather just have stock or lightly modified.

I have an '86 Chrysler Laser XE, turbo I/5-speed, T-tops. More of a project car than a true driver at this point. It is capable of moving under it's own power, but have not had it on the road in several years. Body does not have any major rust, but it will need some work--kind of rough. I can let it go for a good price. e-mail me at midmountain@verizon.net and let me know what you think. Car is located in Kingston, Idaho.

Thanks but I am definitely looking for 87-89, really 89. That is what I owned new in 89.

There is a very nice looking white t-top '87 or '88 Shelby Z for sale on a used car lot here in Kokomo, IN. I haven't stopped and checked it out it but it looks extremely clean and rust free from the road. They are asking a pretty high price ($3350) for it so I would guess it is a clean low mileage car.

I know of an 89' black t-top shelby with leather and digital dash that's sitting at a car lot with a tag that says 1800$ but I'm SURE he would take less, bought an hour south of Nashville. There is also another black shelby that I think is an 89' with t-tops, cloth and no digi dash but I know for a fact this one runs and drives.. They're asking for 1000 I think. That one is about 20 minutes south of Nashville.

Thanks. If you want, you can e-mail me (njmedic1725@yahoo.com) the name of dealer, but pretty sure I am holding out for Blue over silver, because that was the car I owned in 89. Much easier to repaint black into blue than red or white though.

Bob,

Can't help with the T tops, but I do know someone that is soon to be selling a 100% rust free shell. Firebaron90 (Joe D'Ambrosio) has an 89 Daytona Shelby, blue/silver package color. It's a hard top, and it's a PA car (Philly area), but it has NO rust (at least zero as of March of this year, last time I was under it). I do mean zero rust, it's amazing for this area. Never been in an accident, and has good glass, and at most a few dings (nothing that I would consider a "dent"). It will need new paint, as the paint is starting to do that "bleach" look on the roof.

Joe is looking to take all the work he did (engine, trans, etc), and put it into a Lebaron or Shadow. Which will leave a rust free shell. He *may* sell the car outright (ready to drive), not sure if you want what he has (T2 with some *nice* go fast goodies in the engine buildup, auto trans with reverse manual valve body). Both the engine and trans were worked on by Brian Slowe. Interior is also VERY clean, I think the only issue is a sagging headliner. He also has a whole spare front fascia to go with it (correct blue color).

If you are really interested, PM me and I will give you his phone number (he just bought a house and may not be on the forum a lot these days).

Thanks Dave--

Actually, Joe was the first person I spoke to about cars back in the spring. He had offered me his back then but as I am really buying this as a summer DD, and his was more of a street racer, it did not exactly fit my needs. I would be interested in it as a roller as I migh tbe picking up an 87 with automatic but badly rusted body. I still have his contact info. Maybe I will call him. Thanks for the lead.

Thanks. If it was a different color than red :banghead:and about $2000 less I would buy it. Just sold a all red one. Not my color. Not so bad in 89 because it has the silver ground effects.

Here's a crappy picture I took with my phone as I was driving past an '87 or '88 Shelby Z with T-tops on a lot in Kokomo, IN. I don't know anything about the car other than it looks nice from the road and that they have a price of $3350 on the window. I don't even know if it's a Turbo II/A555 or Turbo I/A413 car. I can get you the number for the place if you are interested.

The name of the car lot with the Daytona is:

Sims Auto Sales
1627 East Jefferson St.
Kokomo, IN 46901-4975
(765)452-8697

I called on the car, but unfortunately it is a non-power seat which doesn't work for me 'cause I'm so tall. Thanks for the lead though. Owner (I believe) seemed pretty straight up - said he was flexible on price. Indicated it had 137K miles and same owner since '95. Car had 103K when he bought it then, so only 34K in the last 14 years. Has been repainted with average quality. It's an '88 5-spd, T-top car with grey cloth. Light on options.

Thanks. Gonna keep looking for an automatic. Just acquired an 89 Shelby in rare Radiant Silver. Lots of rust and a bad head gasket but hoping to save it. Still looking for a better car though. I would add a photo here but apparently I can't unless I have them on a photo sharing site like photobucket or something.

'88 Shelby Z. Automatic. No contact info listed, so you'd need to go through Craigslist to get hold of them first.
