Here is my new 89 daytona. It is radiant silver with t-tops, and was a t-II, 5 spd car. It will be on the recieving end of my 2.5 with forged pistons.

Nice detail work on the motor, looking good. Do yourself a favor though, ditch those factory Torx crank pully bolts now and throw some oil pan bolts in from a J-yard motor. They'll only frustrate you sometime down the road. More pics as you make progress:eyebrows:

Nice Car, guess the canadian 89's didn't get airbags? cause my 88 has an airbag. Silver 89 has got to be rare.

rampant150
09-28-2009, 01:17 AM
Hmm, dont know about the airbag. My buddies 89 spirit es and my brothers 89 caravan dont have them either. And ya I know silver was rare for american cars so I figure its got to be really rare for the chrysler version.

cause my 88 has an airbag. .

That is a rare thing. Only extremely late build 88's had airbags, and I think even they were an extra cost option.

AA bodys didnt get an airbag until 90, Minivans got theirs in 91.

x2 , i tried to drop eng+trans with pulley on my charger once lol ...never again , now i drop the car on the engine lol , good job dude !!

It was actually pretty easy. I just had to make sure that the tranny was angled down enough to get under its mount, then I used a piece of plywood on the passenger side for the pulleys to slide down on. Still helps to have 2 people though.

Oh ya and I pulled out the battery tray for tranny clearance and lowered the assembly down diagonally.

Thanks
The resevoir on the passenger side is for the intercooler sprayer. The last owner put it in, its just a washer squirter mounted in the front bumper. I dont know how well it will work. And for the line that runs to the charcoal cannister I just put a longer piece of hose on it and ran it back down towards the ground. It just vents to air.

It's a piece of cake on Daytonas. Don't even think about it on an L-body.
