The Carrier bearing is going out in my dads Sapparo, but no parts store can get it. Anyone have any idea where he could find one at?

You mean on the driveshaft? Look for a local driveshaft/axle shop?

Yes, for the driveshaft. I don't think we have one near here, but I'll tell him to look into that.

It's an oddball car, I've only seen one or two of them, so it's difficult to find parts for it.

Precursor to the Starion/Conquest.
Wonder how many are still around...

its probably the same as a Conquest/Starion. I'd compare them first, so don't take my word for it.

Well, are they IRS or solid?

Can you pull out the bearing and get the number off of it?

I will attempt to find out all of this information tomorrow, my dad wanted to know. :)

Worst case if you can't get a number off the bearing you may be able to make something work or get a bearing with exact same dimensions. I'm not looking at the part right now though, so I'm sure its possible it might be rather hard to replace just the bearing. Such a neat car though. Gotta keep that one going!

I had a 78 and got rid of it in 92 because of parts problem. They had weak clutches and the rear axle bushings problems.
The car was loaded with whistles and bells as I remember it. I also had a Plymouth Champ twin stick 8 speed that I wish I had now. It also had a weak clutch and wiring but excellent engine.

You can probably get that bearing at Grainger.

I'll ask on my Starquest website for you...I think there's a few people on there into those cars.

It was like $80 when i looked...havent driven my challenger since

Thanks for looking! It vibrates on and off, so I'm not sure what my dad's going to do. I'll keep this updated though!

Theres a guy on that same starquest site who pretty much works with nothing but bearings...and...he said...

the bearing within the thing is a 6206, pretty easy to come by, I have them here for cheap.

However, if the actual rubber portions are worn, that thing is expensive. My cost on them is breathtakingly high, but I can get the thing. My advice is to try simply replacing the bearing. But, if he needs the rubber part, I can get that too.

If the bearing, or the unit is needed, have your him contact me. I will do what I can to fix him up.

Hope I helped some :p

And...just let me know if you decide to go through him. He's a very reliable vendor for out Starions/Conquests...so...you can trust him just fine.
