I did some fine tuning on Matchbox, after all the mechanical issues were ironed out by Brad Pennington, by changing jets and shift points during the last few races and some test and tunes and ended up with THE perfect bracket racing car by far!

The NHRA Div3 ET Finals (won by me in 87 with the same car, but with HO motor and 5 speed) usually has us get a single practice pass in and then we go to one or two rounds of eliminations on Sat with the remainder of the race being completed on Sunday with no practice passes. Sunday looked like rain so we simply ran the entire race on Sat and finished early Sunday morn.

Practice Flat out On Brakes On Brakes On Brakes Flat out
All the passes that say on brakes were BARELY on the brakes!
I dialed a 17.20 for every pass. The guy that beat me (his better reaction time took care of me) won it all. I won $250 while if I had won another 3 rounds I would have garnered $5500! The car was not the fault...the tired exmailman was.:D:eyebrows:

The 25 tracks in NHRA Div 3 sent their best 32 cars and drivers to race against each other as a team. Indy finished 3rd this year with the help of me and another Sportsman driver...both going out the same round. As you can see it takes a lot of time to get 800 cars down the track....6 hours and 20 minutes between 1st and 2nd round.

Nice work man I love telling people about your car and its speed. We have an Escort in our stock superstock association thats deadly consistent in the 18.2 range.

Especially if they run 17 second qtr mile times.:thumb:

Steven Pohill from London Ontario Canada has been racing his Escort in NHRA EF/S class since the late 80's and at one time used to make his living with it....current Nat'l Record holder running mid 16s.

I only say thre 17 second cars there. The first guy I beat was in a mid 14 second 05-09 Mustang GT....he had a slightly better reaction time and I beat him by .0081 seconds, the next guy was running low 13s and also had a slightly better reaction time and I beat him by only .0041.....everyone else were in 12.0 cars and I had better reaction times...beat them by .043 to .057 until I finally got treed.

Tomorrow I race my 05 SRT4 in the Stick Shift Nationals at Edgewater near Cincy....last year I was runner-up and the last pass was at 3:56 am!:eyebrows::clap::lol::nod:

LOL, in the Metro, I think if he stages first and leaves when the stage beams come on in the other lane he'd tree the opponent.

Tomorrow I get to see if Matchbox is as perfect as it was last week....at Indy again.

Well, Indy has cancelled all their remainding week end races except for the Sportsman Fall Classic coming up Oct 9-11th. They kept their Tuesday test and tunes though.:(
