I thought that this would have been covered somewhere, but I cant find it using a search. Should this be done? Is it just like the old school 2.5 assembly where you plug the oil feed and just ditch the balance shaft assembly? Or is it much smarter just to put the balance shafts back in?

Go ahead and remove them and plug the oil hole just like a 2.5.

I drilled mine out for a 5/16" set screw. Short of that is is pretty much the same as removing them from an 8V

I tapped the top of the bed plate and put the screw there....

You can also just cut the chain and leave the carrier it is all in how far you want to go with it.

I believe there is a good writeup on neons.org about it.

On my SRT that's all I did to try and keep windage down. I have a How To on SRTForums for you Skittle Dudes.

Thats a good idea also......and probably easier to let it hang in there.

I plugged my feed hole, gutted the assemble, but left the housing for oil control...

Lots of ideas here.......hmmmmmm. I kinda like this idea also.

Now for plugging, I am thinking about plugging the hole from the inside.......as in take the girdle off, flip it upside down, drill from the bottom and recess the plug so the girdle can be put back on and the plug has no chance of coming out. Make sense?

+1 on that if your not runnin a crank scraper or windage tray.
