I figured that the project log is up I should put everything into one thread.
First I built a log header. I felt that a stock manifold just wanst going to cut it for what I wanted.

Here is the Garrett t04 hybrid I had made by a turbo shop, bolted to the manifold I built.

I scored a 2 piece intake, so I cleaned her up, and gasket matched the ports, and centers. Then opened up the Flange for the 52mm throttle body

I welded on a elbow to get the hot side around the head.

I figured the engine was going to rock back to much so I made a solid bobble strut to take its place

Engine gets set in and everything fits! Turbo has 1/2" or so of clearance.

Along with the engine comes some +40's, Acufab, FWD billett rail, 3 bar map, and a shelgam cal. The stainless intercooler piping, and Evo 9 intercooler goes back in. Some how its fits with the turbo setup.:thumb:

Finally I have to remake the downpipe that I made for the stock turbo setup. This is a 304 stainless downpipe, and I had to make multiple pie cuts to make it fit how I wanted. Pretty crazy looking.:D

That was the intention.:thumb: That and I didnt want to be melting a bunch of stuff. Im still going to put some wrap on the downpipe though as it gets hot enought to smoke out vaccum lines.

The head is cleaned up and just mildly ported. But nothing special. That will come later, but I like to do this first and see where it puts me.

Arn't you doing it backwards??
The head is going to resrict you big time IMHO. Specially with a nice big turbo like that..
So if you want...i'll trade you my s60 turbo for that turbo for the time being..:eyebrows:

My turbo probally wont fit unless you do some exetensive modifications. I dont think im doing anything backwords, just in stages like most people do. Fabbin parts is easy, and I have the equimpent, so I went ahead and did it. I will be working on a head this winter, along with building a air-water intercooler setup.

Here is a small vid showing how un-laggy the turbo is. This is when I set the timing with the CTS plugged in so I was running 2 degree retard on my base timing. It was DAMN slow. Spools a little quicker now too.

The upper intercooler pipe was getting rather heat soaked so today I put on some fiberglass/kevlar insulation wrap I got from work. I still need to wrap the downpipe and its in the process of melting paint off the firewall.
Got the AFR dialed in to 11.5 at WOT today, and its a bit quicker. This winter Im going to have to install the external wastegate so I can get a solid 20-25 psi, and Ill try to find a good head. Its stops pulling hard by 5500 rpm and the turbo says it wants alot more!
Any suggestions on a head combo to use?
