View Full Version : NOS Activation Switch

Need ideas or pics of how people got their activation switches for their NOS. I currently have one on my steering wheel, but the dag-gone horn brush/commutator has a dead spot in it. So for temporary I had it hooked to the washer fluid switch. LOL.

I was thinking of buying a new brush for the horn switch, or getting a t-handle style shifter with button.

Ideas?

Mine is on the shifter base (passenger side) so I can slap it on when I shift into second...with a WOT trigger of course.

I just have an arming switch on the dash, and use the WOT switch for activation.

/\ same here. my activation switch is where my cig lighter used to be. I might also add in a t-handle shifter with a button, to make it easier to activate it once I'm in 2nd without having to spray it in first

It wouldn't do me much good to spray in 1st or 2nd since I'm usually traction limited.

if you dont wanna spray until 3rd you could try hooking up a micro switch that would hook up to your shifter and not activate when the shifter is to the left(1st and 2nd)

I thought about that...and still am.

But I think I like having manual control over it. My car is a handful in 3rd and 4th sometimes.

You still have trouble in the 3rd and 4th even with the 3.05 gears.

Not on turbo power.....but with :nx:

:clap:

Actually I haven't had a problem. The 3.05 gears seem to be working really well in 1st and 2nd as I ran 106mph in the 1/8th last weekend without NOS.

When I ran 150 hp shot on the old GLH I had a coil wired button on the left side of the steering wheel and hit it with my thumb....same thing on my 98 Neon with 125 hp shot and ditto with the wifes 100 shot Miata....O the Neon and MX5 I would use it right at the launch....both at 3000 rpm and launching in 2nd gear. The GLH I would launch in 1st at 2500 and then immediately hit the button. Results with and without follow:

GLH = 13.9-14.0 add 150 hp = 11.8-11.9
Neon = 14.8-14.9 add 125 hp = 12.1-12.2
Miata = 15.5-15.6 add 100 hp = 12.6-12.7

NOS makes a t-handle shift knob with a button... worked well for me on the 2.L. the juice added boost for me too, so it was liek a chemical intercooler/ boost controller all in one, LOL! too bad it didnt got faster with it tho :(

Can't find any T-handles with 14mm thread.

I'm thinking of getting a smaller one and drilling/tapping it out.

You should wire it in to a solenoid controlled with a wireless remote, give that to someone in the stands to control. It would be more fun that way and lets you focus on shifting and finding a good radio station.

How abut a wireless remote mounted on your shift knob or steering wheel?

There are other kits from Pilot and Hella that use remote control key fobs, that I think you could simoly mount to your steering wheel.

I use a WOT switch and a button taped to the shifter wired in series on the low side of the relay. That way, if I don't want it in 1st gear, I just don't use it. Also if I lift there's no damage done.

I really want to make up a better shifter for this using an old video game joystick with 2 buttons being used, the other one for a purge that's not on the car yet.

heres my set up. Solinoids on the back of the TB bolts and WOT on the TB lever arm and a simple toggle switch in the cab on the dash to activate it. Also a pruge set up as well.
