HI
Had this car for a while now. Its an 87 Shelby Z will be putting a 2.4 turbo into it. I have bought a set of eagle rods and JE pistons for it. The 2.4 I have is an 05 Stratus r/t motor. Still looking for a fiberglass hood for the car if anyone has one....
Car will be mega squirted. I have a 8.75" diff with 4.10 gears and spool with strange axles. Adapter for 999 trans, trans, and rear sub frame for it. Hopefully will get to it soon.

Cool project Dean! ... pics? ;)

I've been wanting to make a glass or CF cowl hood for a few years... flat hoods are easy to get from HarryGlass, Glastek, etc. but gotta make a mold to get a cowl the way I want it...

What size are those slicks?

Slicks are 29.0x11 but on 8 " rims looking for 10" welds and some 25-26in tall front runners I have 28" fronts new to trade or 14x32 goodyears on welds to trade too.

Rampage16V
12-20-2009, 09:41 PM
Tonight Chris and Scott pulled out the windshield for me. Last night I pulled the dash and wiring out of it and the hood and nose off of it. Threw out the wiper assembly and vacummed all the leaves and crap out of it. Picked up some 25 inch tall front runners. So once the wheels are back on it I'll get it on the hoist and work on the frame rails from underneath.

Well I already have a almost new stratus r/t motor and rods and pistons for it. I could send it out and get the machine work done while i'm fabing mounts. I have my header flange already, an HX40 holset and intercooler, trans tunnel from a supercoupe thunderbird looks like its going to work out well. If I can keep up the momentum who knows.....sooner or later I'll run out out of money to buy stuff I'm going to be needing to keep working on it but for right now I have alot of stuff to keep going on it. I have over 80 pics on facebook of it so far.

Rampage16V
02-17-2010, 12:27 PM
Well I pulled the 05 mex stratus turbo engine apart and it has the older smaller oil pump and no oil squirters. Also the bed plate is broken so I will be using the mock up motor for the race block. I found that a liberty oil pump has the oil filter boss on the right side and faces forward so I've ordered one. That should clear my front cross member but I still don't know if it is the larger capacity pump til i get it. I'm using the steel liberty rwd oil pan and I'll have to raise the motor a bit so it will clear the steering rack. Hope the engine doesn't stick out of the hood!!

I'm using a 999 trans

Oops...I see that in your first post now.

What is a 999 trans?

fleckster
09-01-2010, 11:45 AM
An A999 transmission is what is refered to as a "Hemi" style A904. It is a slightly beefier A904 that has an added clutch disc (5 right?). They came out for the heavier 360 2bbl cars in the mid to late '70s. They were used up until the end of the RWD cars in '89 in the M Body Fifth Avenues/Diplomats/Gran Furys. There was also an A998 which was another slight variation.

I'm gonna use a Holset hx40. Header length a little of both. I have a few pics of the header on the north south fwd mopar pro neon (Shawn Carson's car?). Seems like its taking me forever. Always stuff to do around the house!

Just finished up the mounting for the coil on plug coils. There are 2 directly above valve cover bolts. For those I used a turbo 2.2 timing cover/rocker cover bolt. The other 2 pedastils are bolted from underneath. Coils are from a 2008 Charger 3.5. Motor will be going in today :)

thanks

How did you mount the fan to radiator?
push through clips which I'm not too fussy about but the weight of the fan is sitting on the lower tank.

What size AN fitting are you using on radiator? its 3/4 npt into the rad to 16 an hose. I'm trying to make an aluminum adapter to go behind the water pump

Reeves
02-04-2012, 12:42 PM
Yeah, I'm not too fond of the push through straps either. I've had them rub holes in the rows before.....sucks when you are at the track.

I'm currently mounting a custom aluminum radiator and was just curious.

Rampage16V
02-04-2012, 12:52 PM
I have a few of the lugs that bolt to the rad and slide into the fan. I'm gonna try and weld some lugs on the rad to mount them that way if they fit this fan

Rampage16V
02-04-2012, 03:38 PM
So far I've only found three fan pedastils I put them down somewhere !!! I've seen them in a blister pack card at the speed shop. I'll buy a set if I have too. I had to drive home from the track with a leaky rad once too.

Any word on trans?

Rampage16V
06-04-2012, 01:23 PM
The Trans was the front planet carrier. Aluminium hub stripped out. I was planning to use the low gear set which has a steel hub on the front planet carrier but the sun gear bell was a larger dia. then my the billet front clutch drum I bought. So against my better judgement I installed the alum hub front planetary gear set and sun gear to go with it. Since pulling it out Friday I found that sun gear bell that fits both the low gear set and my front clutch drum. Trans is back in. I'm picking up my coil over springs tonight. Got the windshield installed Friday.
