Help me out guys, I'm tryin to get all the kinks worked out of my van...
I just replaced the rear brakes. I mean, shoes, wheel cylinders, drums, hardware kits, everything....... but the parking brake mechanism was broken, so we removed it with a cutoff wheel so it wouldn't just flop around inside.
Now the rear brakes go TAP TAP TAP every time the wheel goes around when hit the brakes. Under light braking, the right one does it first. Then if you hit the pedal harder the left one does it noticeably louder than the right one. Could the lack of the parking brake stuff make it tap like this? I wouldn't think it could, but I'm out of ideas and it's bugging the crap out of me. The van drives and stops PERFECTLY, there's just noise from the brakes.
