Interior Color Change Questions

I have a question… I am going to convert my Omni’s original red interior to gray … and my question is what is involved with changing the vin number off of the original red dash and put it onto the gray dash… what are the steps in doing this and how do I go about making it legal???? Any info would be great thanks guys in advance.... Rob

Ive asked the same quesiton when I did the same thing. My solution: I put the correct VIN to the car on the new dash, put it back on with some generic rivits, and put the cover plate back on the dash which covers everything up. Then I never made any big deal over it. Your not trying to do anything illegal (other than removing a VIN tag), so dont worry about it, just do it.

That's what I had to do to my '88 Shelby Z. The car had a badly damaged spot on the dash, and I had a perfect dash, so I swapped them.
