May be getting a cheap, cheap 96 Stratus 2.0 5 speed from a customer because it won't pass inspection because it burns too much oil :thumb: We do oil changes on it every 2500 miles with 20w50 and every time it comes in there's about 1/2qt oil in the crankcase.

Might be a good candidate for an SRT4 turbofold after a quick re-ring. Are the heads the same? If not, will a 2.4 head bolt up to a 2.0?

Thanks.

Same head, different cams.

And its either 00 or 01, they change the port shape and IIRC, they will bolt on earlier blocks but need a passage plugged/changed?

Maybe I've just never seen one, maybe it's a Canadian market - American market thing... I've seen very few 5-speed JA cars and each of them were 2.0L SOHC equipped. This is really a "Y" engine cloud car? That would be a first for me.

Ever check to see how much oil is in the intake manifold on this car? Check the PCV valve>

Nope, didn't check to see how much oil is in the intake.

I don't know what a "Y" engine is, but it's definitely a 2.0. I've never seen another 5 speed cloud car, though. Otherwise it's a stripper, though. I don't like crank windows!

Look at the 8th digit on the VIN.

Customer still has the car, for now, lol.

What makes the Y engine different from any other?

The only 2.0's availabe in a 96 Stratus were SOHC, not DOHC.

Just to add, all factory 5sp cloud cars are 2.0L sohc. The transmission has the same gearing as a neon r/t. None of the engine parts are ideal for a 2.4L swap.
