How much boost is the small waste gate can on a t2 garret good for before you have to shim it?

Last winter I could hit cut out with it and the tranny broke. Got that all fixed and now I'm hard pressed to get 12 with the bleed clear open.

It would not suprise me. Some of them get pretty weak.

Well the whole mess is only about a year old and probably only has about six months of run time. I think maybe the filter on my bleed is clogged. I'm using a cutting torch valve with a filter on the end of it. I'm going to try taking off the filter and see what it'll do. If that doesn't work I'm going to put the holset can back on it and hook the alky injection back up. Then imediatley get a good clutch because I'll probably bust it again.

Mine's still stock and I've ran 20psi on it. What's your guys' problems? :D

I ran 20 psi on my stock small can with no problems, not shimmed or bled off. Switched to large can and nothing changed.

I've had both big and small cans on my Shelby Lancer.

With minimum boost (wastegate routed to directly to intake) it would barely make 3-4 psi at WOT with the small can. I was able to use a MBC to set it to 15 psi no problem. Later found out the diaphram was leaking so I replaced it with the large can.

With the large can, minimum boost is now 7-8 psi. I've used a MBC to turn it up to 20 psi and had barely any threads left on the grainger valve. I removed the boost control altogether and boost shot up to 24 psi so I reinstalled the nearly maxxed out grainger valve for 20 psi.

My can is all stock. In fact when I put the large can in once the boost couldn't be controlled. All I saw was a maxed out 20psi gauge.

The lowest I can physically set my boost is 13psi. Lines are from the compressor housing to the MBC and back to the intake. But I do have a total of 4' (yes that's feet) of vaccum altogether. In cab mofo! :thumb:
