Relay for fan

Ok seriously, I can't find the wire to tap into. I want to make a manual fan switch. What are the colors? any pics? I found the relay that clicks when I unplug the temp sensor. Theres like 5 or 6 wires coming from it. A light green, a blue. I am just lost.

Then I run it from the switch to a ground? then that grounds it?

What car? On my '86 Daytona it is a green wire.

I don't know what they changed over the years but my fan relay is on the driver side shock tower and the green wire is the one that runs the fans. I think the '88 still has the relays in the metal cans rather than the square black plastic ones. If that's so, look for the green wire, pull the connector, put 12v on the wire, and see if the fan kicks on.

I've never ran a manual switch. I run a little pusher fan with the stock fan, a cooler t-stat, and a cal from FWD Performance that makes the fans kick on sooner. But if I were going to wire in a manual switch, that's where I'd do it. You gotta make sure you run a heavy duty enough switch to handle the current. You might want to actually run another relay to pull the green wire up to 12v or try to control the relay manually that is already there.

Yea I am trying to find the wire that clicks to ground so i can just tap into that. I want the comp to be able to turn the fan on also, and me when i want it on.

There are several wires that turn the relay on. This is because there is a control for the AC and also for when the engine warms up.

oh ok, so tapping into one of the green ones would work? For the switch the green wire only needs grounded?

Yes or blue with a black or white tracer, memory is going bad. Its easy to figure out which one as its by itself at the end of the relay, thin gauge wire. So simply tap into that wire, run it to a switch, then to ground and you keep the factory control incase you forget to turn it on, :thumb:
