Yeah, not a turbo Chrysler but I need one of these that's not a rusty piece. Chrysler would have happily sold me one for $25 but they are nowhere to be found for some dumb reason. Would be on 87-96 Dakotas... way to tell is the cover is more of an octagon shape instead of just a circle. It has 10 bolts too. Thanks!

Oh, more information about it... 4 cylinder Dakotas and 2WD with the V6 has this differential... so yeah... help me out here?

Diplomat/5th Ave should have the same cover also, they had 7.25's.

Okay, every Dakota at the junkyard was a V8, 4x4, or the cover was rusted to hell/gone. I need one of these pretty bad! Best bet would be 4 cylinder trucks if you can PLEASE look for me. I need one so bad.

Karl, were there any Diplomats at the yard...I don't think I remember seeing any?

There was an 82 New Yorker. Cover was wrong. I asked the dealer to do some research for me... the M body rear cover is actually different. This cover was used only on 87-95 Dakotas with 4cyl or SOME V6 without 4x4.

If I had $$$ and the know how I'd just replace the rear end in the truck with a different (aka more common) one but.... this one still works and I'd hate to go through all that trouble just because of a damn piece of stamped steel.

Can the dealer not get them still? They usually aren't that expensive.

No, it would be only like $26 from the dealer... but it's NS1. No parts stores carry it either.

Have you done the nationwide dealer search thing? Gotta be a few hundred thousand good covers down in junkyards of those salt free states :D

I did do a dealer nationwide (even canada, eh) search and nobody has what I need...

Well dammit... I thought someone here could help but I guess I was wrong...

I took the truck into the bad --- Mexican shop... they fixed a lot of ---- on it including this awful cover so it's all good now.
