Are there any differences between the auto and five speed computers? I know that an auto computer will work fine on a car with a five speed because I 've been running one for almost a year. Well I guess what I want to know is are the auto computers set up to make more power (different timing curve, fuel curve, etc.) to compensate for drivetrain losses in the automatic tranny?

i have a 86 laser xt and the computer will shut off injectors at 14.25 and the manual ones shut off at 14.00 i think the reason they do this is because the torque convertor takes a little more horses to run one other thing is the idle is a little higher but other then that there is no other diffrence that i know of

I have an auto 2.5 ecu in my 89 which is a manual car. The only difference I found with it is when the car is cold it tends to take longer for the idle to come down.

in my mini the idle will stay at 1200 till i stop or slow below 5 mph then drop to 800 or 700 rpm other than that there is no diff. in the running of it. AL
