My dad purchased this car a month or 2 ago at an auction.....200 BUCKS:confused: RAN AND DROVE, top works, windows work, top works.

Powersteering doesnt work, put a pump in it, it was bad, but the rack is dumping fluid out as fast as you can pour it in, so i'll be replacing that when the local you pull has a 'all you can pull' for cheap. Car has 166k on it,,Besides that, it runs good, has truck/mud tires in the front, definatlly pretty beefy.

The day we brought it home:

Since we've owned it, The radiator support was all torn up, probably from a previously bad motor mount, thats all welded up, We fixed the rusty floors drivers and passengers, pulled all the interor out, scrubbed and powerwashed the carpet, I took the car to work 2 weeks ago and fixed the couple of dents it had and primed the drivers side, and trunk lid. The passenger side has a big dent in the door that will be fixed soon. I need a grille, it has some ghetto mesh in it now...not my doing lol but looks decent, better then nothing. Just today I got the AC TO WORK :hail: The top has a hole in it, and the rear window is just hanging there, I have driven it in the rain, i dont get wet either does the passenger, not so much for the person in the rear, that gets dumped on, oh well, Need to buy a top now, Our oginal plan was to just fix it up and sell it well I dont mind driving it, might just throw a top on it, repaint it, convert to TII, and 5 speed, 14psi of fun :eyebrows:

lol at your truck tires!

The body looks ok, just need a door and top for the most part. I had an 86 baron of the same style that i started a turbo conversion on and never finished, but ive wanted one back practically since the day that one left.

body work is cheap i'll straighten the door :eyebrows:

Next week i'll probably be doing that, and priming the other side of the car, then comes the hood and front header pannel, which both need a good amount of work, espcially since someone decided to just dump mud all over the header pannel and its now all cracked:confused:

Went to the local U pull it, they had a all you can haul on a wheelbarrow day, well grabed almost everything to 5 speed swap it.

Once i get bigger injectors and intercooler for the daytona, this car will be getting the stocker ic, and 40+s

A top is also on the list too, its parked now for the winter, probably wont update again till it comes back out on the road.

Swapped in a 88 daytona cs steering rack tonight, man what a pain in the ---, but its done now, but too late to put on the belt to confirm everything, so we'll see tomorrow how it works for sure.

The only thing i find is hard about swapping the steering racks is getting the coupler lined up if you dont have someone to help you.. oh man that's an annoying task alone..

yeah it was a pain, along with lifting it up but a jack, mutiply would have been nice, and blocks of wood worked ok.

Got it finished up tonight, works awesome NO LEAKS! and man does it turn nice!

Well that time of year again, hopefully going to get tags for it soon, as for now I have the money for a top, got quoted a lil over 800 BUCKS FOR THE TOP INSTALLED, holy freakin cow, but a 'good top' was around 500 or so, so for 300 bucks I'll pay someone to do it, but now its just a matter of biting the bullet 800 bucks is alot for a 200 dollar car, but then at least its driveable all the time, its just hard cause I've got my eye on a PDR tool set and daytona ic piping and suspension and tires and man the list goes on.

I hear you. I'm thinking about just taking the whole top and frame off of mine for now. That weight savings would be pretty sweet.

My dad ordered a top for this on Friday should be installing it sometime next week or so, I'll take a ton of photos and maybe write some sort of DIY top install, since I know alot of you guys are interested in tackleing it. Other then that I was DD the car for about a month, its nice having a reliable TM, get in and go, no BS. Had an O2 sensor problem fixed it and now I am suspciaous, since I always reset the trip when I fill up, either the gas guage is working incorrecntly or I'm getting 25+mpg vs 18, I still find it hard to believe but man that would sure be awesome We'll find out next time I fill her up!

from my reading 18-20mpg on a log auto car is typical, but I'll take 25mpg! we'll see

Agreed. Scrounge up some Omni transfer gears and low 30s at 55-65mph should be a reality.

one of my first tm. it was a 84 got for 75 bucks needed a timing belt. top worked like a champ but it had no rear floor boards my oldest rode up front when i took her to school. sold for over 100.00 still would like one of them, very comfortable car to drive easy in and easy out. unlike the daytona but daytona has as way been easier on the eyes
