1987 Dodge Daytona Shelby Z

So i just picked up one of these today for 350 bucks. All completly stock with factory vacuum lines and ac still intact. This is gonna soon be my daily driver if all go's well and a toy for myself. i miss daytonas. This is the 5th one i have owned and im only recently 23. I will post pics soon.

well.. I got a 89 shelby z for my 16th bday from my father we picked up for 800. Vary Rough shape. drove it around till i killed it about a year later. Bought a 86 Laser Xt. Which i never drove. Ended up fixing and giving to my father. Than i bought a 91 daytona cs drove that for about a year than wrecked it. Than i bought an 87 pacifica that i drove for years. and put loads of money into and finally blew the engine like 3 years later when my alky quit workin in the middle of a run. Than i had a good job so i bought me an 05 dodge magnum rt. Which i just got rid off. And i just picked up a 89 sundance 2.5 turbo 2. And than just picked up this 87 last night.. so actual owned 6 tds all together only wrecking one. lol

yeah man im just tryin to figure where to start. Im still getting my turbo sundance back together. that will be done in the next couple days. Than im on to this one. Im not gonna do to much to it. Exhaust, Tune Up, Some Fresh Fluids and just drive it. It actual runs vary well suprisly even though guy said it was sitting for more than 2 years.

i would have one right now too but 89 Z with t tops
rebuilt motor and trans with 300 miles on it but has been sitting for 5 years since it was done
there are no floors and the guy still wants 1k for it

I been driving my new car around all day. Seems to run good. Needs some bushings and struts in such but runs good overall. Only getting 6 lbs with the waste gate unplugged though :(

So today i added some 2005 Dodge magnum rt Leather seats in my daytona(Ill post pics soon). Fully functional and everything except the heated seats. havent tried to hook them up yet. Changed all the vacuum lines from original old ones to new less messy ones. Changed out the tape player. for another newer style chrysler one i had laying around. Tryin to get a good dash cluster at the moment. I got 3, 1 i have not tried yet. One where everything works but the RPM gauge and another with everything cept the speedometer. And thats pretty much it. project started. :)

What do ppl think about the stock airbox? Throw it out for hard piping. or keep it till adding a Front Mount Intercooler?

So i took the stock cat off today.. and wow.. big difference. Now i have boost and everything even though it didnt seem that the cat was even clogged. new fuel filter. swapped in a t1 87 comp i had laying around and it runs alot better. Still has a tps problem though.

so i got 80 lbs fuel pressure on the fuel rail and i dont know why.. ?

so i had 80 lbs of fuel pressure at the rail with the gauge. Figured the return line was plugged. So i got investigateing. And the dude i got the car from put a new pump in but hooked the return line and vap line backwards. fixed that and now she is running like a champ. Still have a boost problem. no matter what i do i get cut out.

UPDATE!!! so i found my boost problem was because the swingvalve arm is rusted shut and will not open. I started doin interior work.. Added wood grain dash pieces. Purple headliner, covered piece that gos on top of the dash and the console lid cover so far.. will post pics later

Today put in a aluminum radiator from a 92 honda 3 core off ebay. and it kools alot better but prolly just cuz the old one was clogged up. Will post pictures later of the set up threw it back in there with the stock t2 intercooler.. and she runs pretty good.

Front Mount And Coil overs are next. With the new radiator i got tons of room to run my cold air intake and intercooler piping into the front air dam of the car.

05 dodge magnum rt seats.. and hey to each is there own.. It made the car alot quieter cuz all the plastic peices where broken and cracked so its holding them together and stops rattling.

So this car is gonna be my daily driver till the end of the year. but since it is so rusted. way more than i originally thought i am gonna part it out. The engine.tranny combo is goin in a 89 plymouth sundance i have with barely any rust besides in the spare tire whole :( all Fl cars makes no since. lol. So when the times comes. alot of parts from this car are gonna be up for grabs. but ill post that in the for sale section when the time comes. So thats pretty much the end to this project. :( RUST blahahhh

Heck for a daily driver, there's nothing wrong with that paint job, especially for only $45! A majority of the time, people are only going to see it driving by on the road, and at that distance nobody will be able to tell anyhow...I bet it looks better than when you started!
