Is a scanner required to do this or can you cycle the key ?

I think you can do the key dance on them.

yep, on my 03 the key cycling will cause the codes to read out on the digital odometer display. If there are no codes it reads "done". Sometimes it is fussy and may take more than one try at key cycling to get it to comunicate.

Also for fun, try holding down the trip reset button and then turning the key to on, gauge cluster will do a self test, kinda fun to watch.

Key thing works, there are a couple PT sites that have lists of what they mean. You can google and they'll come up.

Cool, a former coworker is having problems and contacted me for help. Says the check eng. light comes on with acting up. Sounds like a bad TPS to me.

The key dance will not work on '06 and later PT's or any other Mopar with CAN bus.

DRB cars only. Hybrid CAN bus '06 KJ (Liberty), DR (SRT10), and CS (Pacifica) depend on computer flash level.

One more thing they have taken away from the driveway without spending money.
