Advancing cam gear

Hi all! I was reading through the Allpar web site and noticed an article about advancing the cam gear one tooth for increased gas mileage. Anybody here tried this with noticeable success? I'm trying to get at least a couple more miles to the gallon out of my Spirit (T2 5-speed). I'm pulling 30 mpg now, and just wondering if a cam advance would even be worth it. you're probably not gonna get a whole lot more out of it. i'd get an adjustable cam and go a few degrees at a time and check it. one tooth is 9 degrees, and probably a little much for that purpose (you're gonna lose a lot of top end power most likely).
