Looks good. That will be a lot of work to finish by August for sure though. I would try to keep it original if I were to restore it.

Too scarce to mod imho. Is that a Rampage beside it?

WickedShelby88
06-05-2009, 11:56 AM
Wow. It looks to still have the Koni's and be plenty solid to restore. Good safe for sure and its nice to see some pics.

I would mod it, but nothing too far from original or that stands out. K&N in the stock box, replace the cat with a cutout(if you don't have to get it emmissions tested), 3bar map, +40's, custom cal set to about 20psi, maybe a BOV on the lower IC pipe. Might swap to a 555 with a bearing plate just so you know your trans is strong enough to hold together.

the would make for HUGE power gains, but the only thing there that would really stand out from not being original would be the BOV, but you hsould be able to tuck that away down there. Of course it would sound a bit mean with the cutout open.

if the chassis was in better shape (floor pans etc) id do all original. since you are going to have some non original sheet metal here and there, i vote some small key improvements. basically what murph said. 3 bar cal, +40's, 3 bar map, 555 trans adapted to the rod shifter, maybe heim joint linkages, cutout or 3" exhaust but keep the original exhaust around. :) get another lower intercooler hose and cut it to add the DSM bov and pipe.

could do a upgraded intercooler too like alan did with his rampage.

since 100% original is not possible at this stage i'd go w/ some easy performance upgrades as mentioned above and try to keep the car as stock looking as possible. with the parts from TU and knowledge you can get at this website you can build a very stock appearing 87S that runs into the 12's. good luck on your project.

HOw is the clearance on the shifter when you have all the dash installed? I had this in my shelby charger and about punched the dash every time I shifted. I attempted to make a rod shifter but it woundnt fit with my setup. Looks like I will be going back to cable. WIll probably be moving the shifter back. Maybe you might get away with it with a short throw.

Angled shifter. Never thought about that. Now that I think of it, the factory shifter is angled and the cable is not. Hmmm......

Just saw a pic of one. I made my angled shifter this past weekend. It is a bit more angled than the P-body ones, and I removed and inch and a half from its height. Had to modify the reverse lockout plactic shaft thingy, but it functions flawlessly. FWIW I angled it pretty good and I still had to move the shifter back a ways for it to feel comfortable.

I see you ordered a shifter, but if you don't like it for some reason the 89 A555 cars got a short throw shifter from the factory. I know the Daytona Shelbys got this shifter, you can find them around, it makes for a very nice improvement.

If you have the $$ get the header.

badandy
01-02-2010, 11:11 AM
I know you said you were going to remove the head and get it ported. If you are going with a very well flowing piece than go for the TU header. If for some reason you choose to keep the head mostly stock than go for the ported stocker.

My TU header increased lag with a stock cylinder head and big turbo. The internal volume of the TU header is huge. It really does require a higher flowing head for it's advantages to shine.

86seeS
01-02-2010, 12:32 PM

I say go header plus doesn't the header make changing the turbo out easier? You have the S as cable shift right? So then you won't have the clearance issues you might have with a rod linkage setup.

Wrap them in charcoal suede.

Do it up Mayback style, everything gets covered, Also gonna need silk carpet, foot rest, and some Angre hardwood accents, and 700 hp to push all that wieght

I'm putting that HX30W on the dakota, its smaller than the 35 but similarly sized to the S60. I'll hopefully get it going soon so I can tell you how it runs on the 8V.

Are you running a braided oil feed line to the Super 60?
If so, buy one of these http://www.atpturbo.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=tp&Product_Code=ATP-OIL-022&Category_Code=ATP-OIL1

That should fix it.

Great to hear it was a simple defect and not an issue with oil pressure. I wonder if an oil restrictor should be run with any T2 when you use the braided oil feed line
