Hey guys, when i took my motor out a couple of weeks ago i did have a drip from the oil pan..i thought it was the main seals, but to my suprise it was leaking from the stupid pan. I had replaced that gasket the last time i rebuilt it..i had bought a new one from autozone for the rediculous price of like 25 bucks...i was woundering whats everyones feelings on this gasket...is it known to leak cause it sucks....or is there a trick to install these? or does everyone just use rtv on it...

lmk your opinion and thoughts about it.

Tom

I have had good luck with the FelPro oil pan gasket kits. They even give you these nifty clips that thread into the oil pan bolt holes to hold the gasket in place while you put the pan on, just in case you are doing it with the motor in the car.

I prefer the one-piece Felpro oil pan gasket over anything else. The snap-ups are great too. I have one in my red Spirit R/T when I had to change it on my back 500 miles from home and it hasn't leaked in about 1 1/2 years so far.

Hell I just RTV all mine and never have leaks.

Depends on the pan. The common blocks are sold with a one piece gasket. The non-common have the rubber ends and the cork. I had this same problem, but worse. I would lose a quart at least of oil just driving to and from work. Ditch the cork stuff and just use RTV as BradP says. If you have a common block with the one piece, I would say a little rtv and the rubber, although the rubber should be enough.

I only use RTV on the corners where the pieces of the gasket meet.

OS30612T is the felpro number

I personally just use the 4 piece set and only use RTV on the corners. nowhere else and its heldup for a year so far without leaking. These gaskets arent made for rtv to be slopped onto them. only in the corners and it works great

These are the best gaskets, especially if your working in the car. And yep, I RTV the corners and the ends too, I hate oil leaks.

Nice, ;)

I can hop over to Blaine if I need to, not worth it for one every few years.

I typically use only the rubber ends and RTV on the sides, CB and non-CB :thumb:
