Same park we used at SDAC-15. We will have maps and directions on the SDAC website in the next week or so.

There will also be maps in the next SDAC newsletter. And as always, there will be a complete event itinerary, maps, and directions for all events in the SDAC-19 goody bags.

When does pre-reg end?

I'm in for the Air Force museum!Mailed in pre-regs need to be mailed by June 15th. Online pre-regs will be accepted through Tuesday June 23rd. After that registration on site is still available.

As a note on the schedule, the karting planned for Monday daytime has fallen through due to cost. We may move the rally event from Tuesday to Monday as it is a short event, and then maybe we could do a group trip to the AF Museum on Tuesday.

The thinking is that to get back for drag racing on Monday afternoon would mean folks would need to leave the museum by about 3pm or so. If we move it to Tuesday then folks could have a more leisurely time at the museum and not need to be back at the motel until awards ceremony at 7pm.

We are looking at other things for Monday also (tech session, dyno day, etc).

But please folks don't start in on "I want a dyno day ... blah blah blah." I don't need that aggravation right now. :D:D

We will do what we can to provide a full schedule of things that are of interest and enjoyable.

Did anyone find anything about a drive in theatre near by? It would be cool to go cruise in the cars and go see the new transformers movie.

Oh, and in regard to weather.......is it typically 100 degrees at the end of June or was that an anomaly for SDAC 15?

Oh, and in regard to weather.......is it typically 100 degrees at the end of June or was that an anomaly for SDAC 15?Our evenings are booked solid. No cruise planned this year. That's part of the problem, with evening drag racing, we have too much spare time in the day and we are busy every evening.

It is hot & humid/stormy there this week.

What about sat evening? I wasnt suggesting it as an "official" event......just wondering if there is a drive in near by?

For day time......is there a place with some mini golf or batting cage or something? Thats usually cheap and fun even if you suck. Or maybe laser tag, amusement park, water park, etc. Just throwing out some ideas....

That was the problem, they are closed on Monday and they suggested we rent it (so then they would open for us). Their rental rate is very high. We would have to charge almost as much as drag racing for the number of folks we would likely get for it. Turns out the karting place is open on Tuesday so we may switch some things around in the schedule.

I would like to see this thread return to being a general info thread and not continue the discussion about SDAC events. The planning team is working on these items, and taking the time to reply to such items in this thread only slows down the process as it takes time from other needed duties. :D :D

Thanks,

The American Museum of Brewing History

Also heres a list of drive ins near the area. Looks like theres 2 or 3 pretty close by in Cinci. This might be cool to do on Saturday night as an unofficial thing. Drive the cars down, get some lawn chairs, food, and drink and watch the new transformers.

It turns out the Karting place is open on Tuesdays, so we've changed the schedule to have our fun run road rally on Monday and the karting on Tuesday. As a bonus, the karting place runs a special on Tuesdays where you get an extra 2 minutes added onto the normal 8 minute session.

I've updated the schedule on the SDAC website to reflect the above changes.

SDAC cuisine and food/drink supplies.
The area around the host hotel is packed with food and drink establishments.
For groceries there's a "REMKE"( IGA affiliate) supermarket just across the highway.2 carryouts. And a Cork-n-bottle " adult beverage " store.+2 more:rockon:
For restaraunts we have a selection of all the fast food players, Mcdonalds, Arbys, Whopper, Chipotle and so on. :confused2:
Cincinnati style chili(greek formula, served over spaghetti with beans, onions, cheese):clap2: available at Skyline (cincy chili giant) or Gold Star( meatier, thicker)
Sit down dining affords us Outback, Fishbone, 2 Chinese buffets and several Bar& Grills.
As well as the "world renown Montgomery Inn" bar-b-que. ( Tangy-sloppy style) . LaRosa's pizza tratoria for Italian. and delivery service.
Sweet tooths can be served at the Graeters ice cream shop down the street. Vanilla endorsed by OPRAH!!:drum: I prefer the black razzberry chip(dark chips) .
2miles down the highway at Turfway exit it starts all over again with WAL-MART supercenter,Meijer super center,a PARTY SOURCE, Famous Daves, Applebees, Logans, Hooters and so on.

Will the hotel have any kind of parking lot security? I mean I know there are upsides and downsides to security guards walking around. But we may have two unhitched, unattended trailers at the hotel sometimes and I'm wondering if there will be anybody keeping an eye on the parking lots.

Turbodave

Lots of ways to keep your trailers safe Mike.

Get a lock for the tounge
Chain the two trailers together
Chain the trailers to an inflatable palm tree
Park someone else's tow vehicle in front of them

I usually block my dolly in with what ever I am not driving, usually the truck.

fleckster
06-12-2009, 12:22 PM
I have a wheel lock (kind of like a wheel boot but for a trailer) that I got my my trailer after it was "borrowed" a couple years ago when I left it in front of the storage garage I was renting. It was gone for about three months before it was "found" in a church parking lot a block or so away. I don't fear it getting taken from my driveway but if I have to leave it somewhere else not connected to my truck, I bolt on the wheel lock. The only way to take it would be to lift the whole trailer and flat tow it or with a torch.

I would think we would have plenty of vehicles to park in the way to keep them from going anywhere. Also that hotel has a very nice set up and the parking we have is in the back and pretty secure.

Close to the hotel?

Not near the hotel; BUT:

The track sells their own race brew, and there are 2 gas stations near the track that sell Turbo Blue and Sunoco race gas.

We'll try to add that to the visitor's guide / map in the goodie bags...

Ok last bulletin:
Try www.wlwt.com for local weather-traffic info:amen:
www.gasbuddy.com for gas prices nationwide( I like the interactive map)
ITEM OF NOTE! Kentucky I-75, from the I-71 merge north to the river is the busiest section of interstate in the US. Accidents are frequent, and dramatic! Merging traffic from both right and left. Add cellphones , jacka$$es, volume, etc. etc.
The hotel is right in the middle of it all! Please be carefull. If you're towing just stay in the right lane, check the mirrors!!
I-71 south from Kings Island to the river is also congested.
I-74 east never tells you are here , it just ends! Merge onto I-75 south to Lexington.
Normal traffic is not that bad , just slow from 3:00 till 6:30 pm on Fridays( vacation traffic fleeing south) boats, RVs, vans packed to the roof. Tune to WLW 700 AM for traffic every 15 mins.
