When I removed the balance shafts in my last motor I plugged the BS oil hole with a shoulder bolt that had the head & threads cut off. I can't seem to remember what size bolt that I used though. I am sure that I got the info from someone on this forum but can't seem to find the info anywhere. Anyway, thanks for the help.

Matt, thanks for the link but it doesn't mention the bolt size (that I could find). It may have been referenced in Cliff's site but when I try to access it I am told that the site is shut down. Anyone know what size bolt is used to plug the BS oil hole? Thanks again for the help.

Thanks, I think that I will try iTurbo's method this time. The last time I cut (I believe a 1/4-20 x 2"???) the thread and head off of a shoulder bolt and then used the unthreaded part of the bolt as a dowel to plug the hole and then used a bolt an washer in the threaded BS mounting hole to hole it in place. It seemed to work well but I just can't remember exactly which bolt that I used. This method seems equally effective and I have the materials and tap. Thanks for the help.

What I ended up doing to plug the balance shaft oil feed hole was to have the machine shop fit a plug to the hole, then mill the surface flat. It looks clean and stock. You have to look for the hole to find where it used to be -- it looks like the block didn't have an oil feed at casual glance.

I use M8 tap same as oil pan bolt/intake/exhaust/on and on threads (the 10mm oil pan bolts).
I just loctite and reef it in and leave the head it doesn't get in the way of anything....
