anyone seen my 5th gear? I cant find it...

The other night I was cruising home, in 5th gear. I came to a stop, and re-accelerated. 5th gear was gone... Just wont engage. I can hear a wining when I try to engage it, but it just wont do anything, it wont even grind... wtf?

Sounds like you might over heated the syncro or even melted the shift pads. Its pretty common if it gets low on fluid. Time to open it up.

doh, thats what I thought... would a dealer stock a synchro? hah.

My spare 5th gear is in CA, I'll take the end-cover off and check it tomarrow.
