Not sure how this is going to run, but it is what I have so I was wondering what the consensus is on how the 86 LM will cause an 85 T1 to run being as it has the G head? I suppose if I need to the cheaper route in this case will be to find an 85 LM versus pulling a known good lower mile 85 T1 apart and I'm not even positive how that would go with the 10mm head bolts and a 782 head.

If you need one I have the stock computer out of my 85 glh I converted to t2. You pay shipping and its yours. I also have a 85 mopar performance lm. $30 + shipping.

As far as running the 86, I think you would be fine at stock boost and base timing.

Your going to have to change the distributor to an 86 or later one too.

I knew about the dist. wiring difference. Cause you had 84 which was its own bucket of worms, the 85 with the different dist. and head, and a few others things, then 86-87.. 86-87 seems to be the easiest to convert to T2 though. Well then it wouldn't really hurt to get the right LM. I've heard you can run more timing with the G head. The engine I found comes with everything including accessory brackets so I really can't go wrong.

You have an '88 lancer, why are you running '86 electronics? :confused2:

No this is for something else. Long story. Can fill you in if I go to the car show.

it will run ok, it will want more timing though, especially off boost.

Ah. well in this case I will definitely run the 85. Looks like someone has one. Would advancing the cam a tooth help any to offset potential issues with running the 86 though. I figure it my base timing is higher than the LM should hopefully throw in some more timing since it probably still won't be knock prone at that point.

Long story? I've seen you type a lot of words in the political threads... heck you post a ton on here :confused2:

No, advancing the cam won't help.

The G-head needs more timing out of boost and can take a tad more under boost but I honestly feel under boost, both heads use virtually similiar timing.

If you can't tell, not a fan of G-heads, ;)

Advance the ignition timing a few degrees. You are going to have to play with it a little. The 2.2's are not as bad as the 2.5's with a g-head and swirl cal. My guess it you will end up with somewhere around 16 degrees of timing.

Your best bet would be to change the cal. Get a cal for you year and copy the fuel and timing tables from the year of the engine.

JT you have PM. As far as the programming goes I am just going to run an 85 LM for the time being. I will socket my 86 accordingly at some point and the 85 T1 will come out later on when I change to T2. For now its a sub 100k engine with everything for less than the JY would charge for just any old engine so I can't really go wrong. May be okay running the 86 LM now, but it would defeat the purpose I have of being a more fuel efficient car than my lancer unless you think I could still kick out nearly 30 mpg with the stock T1 in an l body.
