I don't understand WTH is going on. Line pressure is cranked using a 727 HD spring out of a shift kit, I started using the hollow valve and turbo spring, would shift at 6800 rpm. Changed to the TBI spring and 6500 rpm. I went in and ground some material off the big valve-no change. Last night completely hollowed out the holey valve-it only goes down aprox 1/2-3/4 inside, and then ground out the disc area. You can definately feel its lighter over the stocker. Went for a road test, no difference-WTF???????????? I can't drag race when it shifts this high. I want to go back out tonight but not if I can't get my WOT shift down. :( :censored:

Once you go with a full manual valve body and find out how nice it is, you'll wonder why you dropped the pan so many times to try and tweak that governor.

Have you tried running the big valve without a spring? Running the solid small valve? I can't remember what combination I have in my van, but with 125-130psi at WOT, it shifts 1-2 at 5800rpm and 2-3 at 5500rpm. I also run the .91 transfer gears, which lowered WOT shift points by itself.

I'd run a manual valve body, but full line pressure shifts get annoying when your driving in city traffic, IMO. ;)

What ever happened to JDIZZ? He'd know what to do.....

I don't think JDIZZ is over here yet.

Anyhow, I got it figured out. Thanks for the response Chuck.

BTW, running solid small weight with light Sonnax spring.

I backed off my kickdown cable at the track and had perfect 5800 rpm shifts so now I could manually shift where I wanted it to. :thumb:

Use a 2.5 TBI "small" weight. It has a groove at the tip and is the heavest. Keep turbo "big" weight w/hole and orange spring. I run 140 psi line and it shifts at 5200 1-2 and 4800 2-3. I have a picture of the three weights Chrysler ever made for the 31TH if you want to see it? I know this thread is old, but this may help other's in need......

Sure, post it, that would be great. I have mine figured out,

The pic is dark, but it shows the deal. The left is turbo(can't see the hole), the middle is 2.2 TBI,(No hole) and the right is my favorite, the 2.5 TBI.
