This may be old news, but the March '06 (and unfortunately final) issue of OverRev has several turbo Dodges in it. The neatest is a big spread on Debbie and Brad Pierce's Daytona. There's also clips about Stephane's Charger, and about the pro Neons, turbo and otherwise.

Well, I don't really know. It was in the bottom of a box I got today with a part for my SRT from Logic Performance. http://www.logicperformance.com/

Cool article, I'll like to find a copy of that too.

I'm curious as to why they are using an auto. I mean they probably could run 12's with the same setup and a manual trans. They could have picked a lighter Daytona.. or even a charger or omni for that matter too.

It says they're bracket racing - running a manual in that would be shooting yourself in the foot ...

I completely disagree.

ok, so if you're running bracket racing with an auto you can load the convertor, leave it in drive, and plant your foot. Excepting track conditions changing after your qualifying runs, how exactly is that going to be worse than running a manual where your clutch control and shift points can make your times vary wildly with only a minor change?

I dont think he said it is worse... just not 'shooting yourself in the foot'.

That's exactly what I meant. A few years ago I took my car to the Mopar Atlantic Nationals and was the only FWD car in Bracket C - 12.00 to 12.99. There were 86 cars in the bracket. Me and my 5 spd. FWD against the rest. I ran a 12.39 dial on that 98 degree day and made it down to the last 6 cars where I red lighted (.497). I suppose I was shooting myself in the foot. A good driver in a 5 speed car can be as consistent as an auto.

Sorry, you're right, a good driver /can/ (Ronnie Sox, RIP, for example), but for the vast majority of drivers out there it introduces an extra element that contributes to inconsistency ... ShelbyZD was taking apart the Pierce's Daytona for choosing an auto, which (if the car was built to run in a particular bracket) doesn't make sense to me.

I wasn't picking it apart really.. just I've always been a fan of the manual trans because it makes the car work so much better.

Yep, not much more difficult to drive than a FWD 5-speed turbo car... but I like challenges :thumb:

Had a day at the track running a 13.02 dial... was 13.03x-13.05x for 4 straight passes (cutting .550 -.61x trees) raised the dial in to 13.03. Ran a 13.028!!! I shot my self in the foot as well!!! ;)

I always dial a 13.00 in my Shadow cuz I'd be happy if it ran a 12 during a bracket race, LOL...
