There are at least two different floor mounted automatic shifters. The one in my 87 turbowagon has a larger shaft than the 90+ vehicles. Tonight my intentions were to install a woodgrain shifter knob from a TC, and it wouldn't fit http://www.easyfreesmileys.com/smileys/free-mad-smileys-171.gif (http://www.easyfreesmileys.com/)

I'll have to do some investigating later and see how easily a newer shifter will swap in.

Shouldnt be too hard to swap in... '87 was a bastard year for shadow A520 shifters too.

Hmm...wasn't aware of that either.

Yeah, I'll try to swap a new shifter in soon. Now to remember where I've stashed one...

Having problems with your shaft, Paul? Sounds like a personal problem there LOL.

We can get one this coming up weekend if you want to go junkin.

Paul,
Can you post some picks of your interior with the center console. I have been debating converting mine to 5 spd and want to see what a center console looks like.
thanks

Here's some pics Kyle. Pardon the mess of having the dash apart...I'm trying to decide and fit the tach, boost and air fuel gauges http://planetsmilies.net/happy-smiley-582.gif (http://planetsmilies.net)

Also notice the rare high-performance upgrade (VNT Shelby Daytona gas pedal swap)

And here's the shifter knob from the TC. Notice the stock black knob and how the wooden knob is smaller

I think only the "performance" models received the fatter pedal...easy to remove, might as well grab it if you can!

I think all manual cars got the wide pedal, this makes it possible to do heal and tobraking.e

or maybe es or highline models, I'll have to check my reliant K since its a factory manual.

IIRC, just two 10mm bolts hold the pedal assembly to the firewall...

Does your ES have the thin or fat pedal?

JohnnyIroc

its got the thin one

JohnnyIroc

did any automatic come with the fat pedal?
if it did tomorrow i might be able to get 2 of them would you want another?

Dodge Aries K

The ES models with the TBI engine didn't get the fat pedal... however ES models with the V6 or Turbo engines did... even ones with automatics.

JohnnyIroc

well i was thinking the shelby in the JY 2.5 mitsu turbo with an auto will have it
and as long as that other shelby is still ther i can get both

i bet if you take that metal collar off the shifter the wood knob will slide over it
