Thanks John

The C body 8-3/4 I bought came with the open 2:76 gear

Just decided to go with the 3:55 last week. May go to a
sure grip somewhere down the road. Car will be not be used on
the strip...just a street and open road cruiser so I may
not need the sure grip.

I think you're gonna need traction on the street too! ;)

someday I'd like to drop a built 360 into the van and really go to town with it. but thats a long ways off. its got far bigger issues to deal with first :o

Those mp valve covers look good, thought about getting them. but ended up putting the stock stamped leakers back on for now.

Is that a daul plane manifold, never seen one like that. Also is it a fastback or hard top. I'm a Cuda lover from the day the first one was built in 64.:hail:

That looks like an Edlebrock Air Gap Performer RPM. Nice choice for a healthy street driven small block. Whose good looking big block is that in the background of your engine pictures? Billet MSD Distributor was pretty good $ on it.

It is a fastback. The intake is an Eddy Air Gap.

Car will be black with red seats and door panels. Will have 15"
steel wheels with redline rires and dog dish hub caps. Hood is
an AAR fiberglass with the Hemi 'Cuda scoop.

This is the 'Cuda when I went to pick it up:

That's correct on the intake. The big block belongs to another
customer. It was a 383 that has been bored and stroked to
490 cubes.

My 360 will also have the billet MSD distributor with the 6 AL box
and MSD wires and Blaster 2 MSD coil.

Since you used C Body rear drums (and converted axles) just like we did on our 440 Duster, it looks like you also swapped to the '73 and up A Body front disc brakes to get the 4.5" bolt pattern all around. That's the way we did it and the hot set up. It also allows you to upgrade to the 11.75" rotors from the later B-Body.

That is going to be one beautiful cuda. The 67's are quite sharp. I always like the interiors of those cars cause or the real chrome and metal and attention to more detail than you see today.. Well sort of. With that 360 that car ought to scream.. For traction you ought to be able to get a good limited slip for that 8 3/4 for less than 300 bucks.. Its not like our fwd's where there isn't even remotely the volume sold to drive the cost down. Old skool mopar for the win, the investment, and the grin on your face when you launch it sideways drifting style through the intersection!

I used the Master Power Brake kit for the front brake set-up as
I needed the later UCA to get the larger ball joints. (Car will have
manual brakes and steering)

How much Vasoline does it take to put a 440 in a Duster? I've seen
big block A bodies but it must be a lot of work to make it happen.

Very nice, We are hoping to have the 340 back in my dad's 69 Formula S by May 1st.
The TTI Exhaust just showed up and man those headers are pretty. We are hoping for around 400hp on pump gas. His is going to be hid under stock valve covers and air cleaner and we painted the intake to try and hide it too. The only real give away will be the exhaust.
Is that an Edlebrock Air gap intake that you have on there?

You don't need any Vasoline but you do need special motor mounts and exhaust to make it all fit.

Duster before:
http://www.turbo-mopar.com/forums/photopost/data/562/Duster_Before.jpg

Duster after:
http://www.turbo-mopar.com/forums/photopost/data/562/medium/Duster_1.jpg

That is the old set up with the huge 2.0" primary headers I used to have. They were too big and a pain to do anything with in the car. The new 440 that will be going in has the Schumacher 1 5/8" step up headers that are ceramic coated. They will even allow the car to have power steering put back on! (Very much needed with the weight of the 440 hanging out over the nose and the weight distribution of a FWD car!) She's been off the road for a number of years now but I want so badly to get it and my other projects running again. They will probably have to wait until after I'm married and into a new house. If I was going to start all over, I'd go with a huge stroker small block like a 408ci or 410ci or even the new 440 Super Commando crate motor. Big cubes and power but better packaging and less weight!

Except the heads being aluminum/not painted it looks pretty darn close to the 360 I had in my 77' power wagon.

.030 over
flattop pistons
comp cam 268H cam (it's a truck so I didn't go with a lot of cam)
freshened stock heads 1.88/1.60 valves
proform roller rockers
edelbrock air gap (awesome intake)
edelbrock performer 600 carb
Mallory unilite ignition
accel 300+ wires
Mopar black wrinkle valve covers and air cleaner :thumb:
Same chrome dipstick!

Looks like you are going to be running an electric fuel pump then? I see the block off plate. I used a carter pump, it's been awhile so I forget which one but some high flow from Jegs.
I also had headers though, you will have a large bottleneck without them and will kill some HP for sure. Dual 2.5'' with Warlock mufflers :amen:

Not Mopar but I thought you might enjoy

This is Brad's Mustang.....street legal....runs 10.5 wide tires
Approx. 1400 h.p. at the wheels.....low 5 sec. in the 1/8th @ 132 mph
Mid sevens in the quarter @ 175 mph

Procharger has sweet setups. They are pretty much the most efficient centrifical charger out there, which is why they make so much power. I looked into them hard core like 2-3 years ago when I was looking into buying a mustang, but I got married instead:ballchain:

Sweet! Many years ago I put together a 340 so I can relate, although I kept the Thermoquad for a little originality (hey, it worked great!). With your combination, 400 hp is a easy goal. Personally I would paint the heads to match the block for a little more of a "sleeper" look. Not using a mechanical fuel pump?

Here's a pic of a 273 solid cam I built from a 65' barracuda, with an offenhouser aluminum 4bbl intake. The 64-65's had unique intakes, other LA intakes don't work so it was my only option. Sorry about the quality of the pics they are scanned polaroid's. My 360 that I was talking about earlier I put the same VC and air cleaner on it, but I don't have any pics of it! I'm just posting the pics to show how the matching air cleaner with the valve cover's go great together IMO.

That's cool. I had a weird combination of a '72 'Cuda, 1970 T/A 340 short block and '72 top end with stock dual plane intake and T-Quad. Cam? Never knew. It was a Crane unit, but the numbers didn't translate...figure it was some sort of custom job. It had a serious lope and with that and a stock converter, the car was a little difficult to drive. Wish I still had it!

Thanks 89csx10

I just got back from the Phoenix area (vacation) and plan on visiting
the paint and body shop very soon. It should be a lot farther along than
when I left on the 7th.

After the body work and paint it goes to the speed shop where my engine is
waiting. Brad will install the engine and tranny and the torsion bars. He will
also set up the 8-3/4 with some 3.55's

After he's done it comes home for the complete assembly of the body
and interior parts. Glad my new garage is heated, cause I'll need it.

I would guess I should be done by spring of 2010:nod:

Just curious on why you went with dished pistons?
Do you plan on adding a supercharger in the future?

Did that to make sure it would run on 87 octane. While on the
2007 Hot Rod Power Tour in the Red Daytona Shelby Z some
of the gas stations were sold out of premium fuel because of
all of the cars on the tour. I decided then to set it up for
regular fuel. And like you said, a Pro Charger could be added
at any time.

Sweet. What engine used to be in it?

I miss read your post the first time.....sorry

Car orig. came with the slant 6 and 904 auto on the column. It
also had a bench seat. When I got it the engine and tranny
were gone and someone had put a set of buckets in it.

Car was white with the Met. Red interior.

man...this is really making me want to get my 68 done. Looks awesome...and, i will be following this project till its completion :)

I have a 68 convertible....needs floors and quarters...could use fenders too, but, they're fixable.
I have a brand new rebuilt 360 with the later model "swirl port" heads on it, 10.5:1 pistons, bored .30 over, 340-6pack cam...sitting in the corner of the garage. Mine is going to be painted red and dressed up like a 340 to mislead people :p
Also have a 4 speed sitting behind the car, and a Dana 60 with a 3:54 posi in it. I'm also coverting it to the manual disc brakes in the front and all...
She'll be Gold with black guts, black formula S stripe (between the wheelwells on a 68), and a black top...sitting atop gold 15" steelies (7s up front, 8s in back) with the plymouth dog dishes...should be purty.

Now...get yours done so I can really get my butt in gear :)

Rich will do the first buff on Tuesday.

I am really impressed at how slick this thing is.

These guys know what they are doing.

Dave did the rust repair and hung the quarters.
Richard (we call him "Magic Fingers") prepared the body for paint.
And Rich the owner of The Rod Shop shot the paint.

Yea, I agree James

You're the first to offer a deal like that so come on over. You'll have
to load it by yourself...I do draw the line sometimes:D

We might even drink a wobbly pop.

Tony, that car is beautiful. You have good taste in what you've done to it.

what kind of tasteless person would waste their time restoring a late 60s a-body Cuda. I mean look at that thing.

Oh yeah...I'm one of them people too :p
Looking great. Love the steel wheels with the dog dishes (my plan), and the red line tires. Really has that sinister look about it. Can't wait to see her all done! Looks straight as an arrow from here.

Are you doing the Formula S stuff on it? Or just going badgeless?

Thanks Tyler!

Body guys did a great job on her. Yes, it's straight...can't see a ripple in it.

No Formula S stuff.....will have the std fender emblems and "fish in a circle"
on the deck lid and that big Hemi scoop...no sleeper here.

No racing involved.....unless you want to. There is a car show, swap meet, etc. Just like the Mopar Nationals, only cooler temps, and a lot nicer grounds. Rob Pachner and I will be there racing, as well as most, if not all of the SDAC Buckeye Chapter.
