I have a 2007 caliber RT and the wifes CEL came on. Is there a way to check the OBD codes without a scan tool? My neon used a key sequence and flashes of the CEL. I want to know more before I go to the stealership.

no heath, you need a scanner, or be friends with a tech at a dealership, cause it takes all of 5 mins to get them with the starscan

heath if you get the list of codes post them, ill check out the known problems and TSBs. But if its a evap leak you are kinda beat. You can try a gas cap but without the starscan to test each componet in the system and a smoker to check for leaks you cant do much about it.

have you tried the on/off/on/off/on trick? should display codes on the dash. My srt-4 does. And you don't have to count the flashes like the old dodges, it will actaully show you -like p2101 etc.... and then you can just look it up on the internet.

I did try that, but I didn't notice anything immediately..... Do I look at the odometer?

Yep. I had a problem with an 04 Sebring. The codes are on Allpar.

You have an Advance Auto or Autozone (or maybe any others) around? Autozone has the scan tool on their loan-a-tool program, and Advance will scan the codes for free.

yes, but I have a srt-4 caliber so I'm not it is the same but probably is. Do the on/off/on/off/on....then look at the odometer. It will be just dash lines line this -------- at first and takes a few seconds. My car is fine so all I get is the dashes then it goes to --done--- and that's it. Good luck!

My g/f's 04 liberty is on/off 6 times instead of the old turbomopar 3 times.
