i dynoed my omni today and because my auto downshifts at wot they could only test from 4000 to 6000rpm. My question is how can i get it to not downshift so i can get the results from lower rpm. the graphs i got show only the backside of my power curves so i don't know what my peak hp and torque are.

Now that's a good question!!!! I wish I knew the answer.

I wouldn't do that, you could damage the trans. You test in 2nd gear and can't really test below 3000 rpm anyhow so put it in manual 2nd and keep it there. It won't upshift so you can hold it to the limiter. :D

Which Dyno did you go to?

i went to forcefed and i was realy dissapointed by the numbers i had a boost leak somewhere in my new intercooler piping and could only get 10psi of boost. i think it might be the stock blow-off valve leaking. the numbers were 137@4000 hp, 186@4000 trq. i was hoping for at least 250 hp with about 20 psi of boost.

Couldn't wait huh? :p

i'm also just getting day permits for the car so i didn't realize i had the leak untill i was on my way to the dyno. the last time i drove it was before i had my intercooler installed

mine was ran in 3rd when it was an auto,146hp at 3200 and 245 ft lbs at 3200

how were you able to get numbers from 3200rpm? by the looks of my charts the horsepower would be a little higher than the 137 it was going down but not steeply like my torque the steep downslope of my torque would have it way higher probably in the 250 ft/lb range at 3200rpm.

i fixed my leak by removing the blow-off valve and corking (literally) the hose that goes to it. for those of you that will now say that it will ruin my turbo, it is a mitsu turbo and its already blown.

Mine didnt kick down over 3k for some reason on 2 pulls on the first pull with nitrous it kicked in to 2nd and they wouldnt even show me the chart, the pull with nitrous was 175 at about 3500 I think and the same 245 ft lbs I dont have the charts or id give you the exact rpm but I know it was just over 3k,the part im wondering is I was in 3rd gear and Simon was talking about 2nd gear so the numbers should be a little higher than I had and if thats the case how much power am I making?

thats what i was wondering too, on my charts there is a conversion number for the rpm to mph at the bottom of the page i imagine this is a correction number to a 1:1 gear ratio the number on mine was 73 i believe.

My guy dynoed my auto in 2nd, it kicked down to 1st one time but he just backed off right away and tried again. He said it probably would have made more torque in 3rd but would have taken longer to wind out.

I dynoed it in 2nd and 3rd, made a tad more in 3rd.
