View Full Version : How to fit a 1 1/4" Shelby Z sway bar in a Minivan!

I have more time than money so I figured I would give it a try, THIS IS NOT for the faint of heart, I figure it took me at least 8 hours to make it fit.

I made new center mounts, then slid them further inboard as the Z bar is narrower and also shaped differently as I am using a 91 K-member. I used aftermarket poly bushings.

I then had to heat and clearance the K-member as the bar slightly hit and I also ground off a bit on the inside of the bar.

I cut off the ends, can't remember how much and welded on some of Johhny's precut sway bar ends, drilled a hole thru the cast control arms as used some Poly sway bar links. I got one end off on the angle but no biggie, :p

Wow, it was worth the effort, the van doesn't pitch and sway into corners as much, it corners alot flatter, wow, :partywoot:

The pics look bad, lol, we had just finished with the snow so salt is everywhere, :(
