Pulled the stock exhaust off my minivan last weekend, I was thinking of salvaging the stock tip and fitting it to my new 2 1/2" system. Once I looked inside the tip I changed my mind...

It's a lot happier now with the mandrel bent system, and even with the straight through dynomax ultraflow oval muffler it isn't as loud as I had feared.

It won't whistle, too far down. FYI, 80's and early 90's Ford pickups had that mesh also, I am guessing its some kind of flame arrestor-to stop chunks of cat or carbon from flying out. Its the only thing I can think of.

Simon... I think Dave is referring to the 1/2 closed off pipe way down by the bend, not the perforated metal screen. (look at the second pic, the one with the screen missing, all the way down near the bend)
What a cork! (were both tips like that)?

i had one like that on my baron (stock) and the tip that has the mesh in it, wasnt even connected to the actual exhaust on my baron, it was just a bent pipe welded on for looks (and i did enjoy that look, but hell i wanted performance)
