Pulled the head on my GLHT yesterday. I noticed when I pulled the bolt out for the turbo support that the rear tab/support on the starter was broken off. So when I pulled the head, it fell on the floor.

Is this important to hold the starter in place???? Or is it no big deal? Its been broken for a while judging by the corrosion at the break, so Im going to guess its not a problem.

thanks,

If the other three bolts are still there it's probably fine without it. My wife's old Daytona ran around for a long time with just one starter bolt and never had a problem.

Got pics?
But yeah, if you have 2 or 3 bolts holding it in, its fine. I am using the top and bottom bolts on my starter, had to cut the middle one off.

no pics. Ill see if I can get one, but as far as I know there are 4 bolts holding a starter in. 3 into the "front" (tranny side) and one at the rear that attached to a bracket that bolts in with the turbo support bracket. The one in the rear is an ear on the starter, that ear is broken off.

LOL It's a tiny bolt through that tab. I lose that thing on every car I have.

can I just get rid of the bracket all together?? That would be great! Lots more room to get that turbo brace bolt in/out!
