Just putting a feeler out there to see if I can't locate Shelby Lancer #79. This car used to belong to a friend of mine and he was curious as to where it is now. When he sold it about four years ago, it went to Michigan and changed owners several more times before I lost track of it. Let me know if you have any info! Thanks!

I have a pic in my archive, not sure how old that was? the pic has pink post-its all over the windows?

moved to 'whittier' section

Hmm, that picture definitely would have been after Denny had it -- he'd never put post-its all over his cars lol. I have some pictures from when he owned it that I can post up later on.

Hey I used to own that car, actually had it from 2001-2007 until I sold it for scrap price to a guy on the boards to keep it from being cut up and parted out.

I don't think the guy let the car get off the dolly before he went to town on it with a sawsall, very frustrating since I hung onto that thing forever trying to give it away so it wouldn't be chopped up.

I purchased it from Carl Topais in New York.

Are you sure about the car number here Jason? Reason I ask is because our friend had it for sale locally here around the time I graduated high school (2003) as I sat it in and everything and was | | that close to buying it myself. I do not feel it'd have been cut up because it was in VERY nice condition despite some paint fade on the roof and hood last I remember.

HAHA I was going to say, if it got chopped up it'd be a sin!

This one was a 5 spd cloth car and had ICE COLD AC, it was unbearably cold. Working DEX too.

LOL, thats my car as of a year ago, you should know that Pat.

It was Stephans (turboshelbys), then some guy one the west side of MI, I got it, made it fast again, and Stephan bought it back from me. Hes doing a full resto on it. I can only do one, and the GTC is my baby.

Heres some pics when I had her. Shes easily one of the better ones left, all Shelby items (it has a 555, s60, and the engine has been rebuilt, 3" full exhaust, Gary D computer, ect). Needed paint and shocks, and hes already done the shocks/struts.

Oh and JT - that post it note picture was when girls ambushed me in parking lot

I thought it was yours but for some reason I thought you had sold it lol. Denny (the former owner that I know that did the engine and all back in the day) was asking me about it two weeks ago when I stopped by to visit. Good to hear it's still out and about! Any progress pictures of the restoration?

Mostly just glare. My camera wasn't as hot back then as the one I have now. That was almost daily driven (had to take advantage of the little michigan summer  ) at that time, so it wasn't even all that clean in a couple of those pics. I took the centercaps off when I was driving it.

Nice SL!
Don't make me sad. I miss the GTS you can see in the reflection of it as well. Stephan is the best possible person I could have hoped to sell it to, however, and I'm sure the car will only live a better life as time goes on.

I am the only who bought the car from Denny yrs back. Its in the midst of a full resto right now coming along just fine. I should have it back on the road this spring. I will list the mods and some pics shortly. If it comes out half as nice as my glhs did I'll be very happy.

PAINT IS FINALLY DONE!!!

Also, i know the wing and vent are supposed to be red. i have an extra one of each so i did them in black and red. i really liked the way the black stands out so i have them on for now. i also have a lancer shelby upper wing i did in black as well, that will be put on shortyl. if i head to car shows and such 8 nuts and she's back to stock trim.

I only have the rear deck decals installed right now, i have the rest that will go on soon.

stock rims and centers are in storage, so the 18's(225 40's) are on it for now.

lmk what you all think:hail:

Looking good. Ironically we got our cars restored at the exact same time. If I hadn't sold it, the SL would still be waiting in line, so I'm glad it went to a good home!

Quick update on ole 79. finally put it on the dyno at fwdperformance.

41059

First run @15psi with a/f reading 9.2

Second run @22psi with a/f reading 9.2

My Meth system was not working during the runs. Ambient temp was 96. humidity 4 million percent!

Gained 91hp and 128 trq withan 7psi increase. With some tuning I am quite confident that I can get the 300hp mrk as is.

A little FYI, I never plan on making this a high hp car, just wanted to build it the way it should have been.

Great to hear an update on this! Thanks for keeping us posted. The next time we see our buddy who owned it we'll let him know it's still doing well. He def. misses that car.

Does he still have his GTS or Cordoba?

DC Turismo

He sold the GTS locally and the ppl d.d. it now. We've seen it on a few occasions. I'd have to check about the Cordoba. Pretty sure he sold it. Him and I were just talking about #79 when he charged up the AC for me in my CSX before SDAC.

Eh, from the looks of it the last time we saw it, the new owners had applied spider web decals on various spots of it. So it's not up to Denny's standards anymore by any means lol...

BTW then, are you and #79 in AZ or is the car still in MI?

Thats aweful, that car was beautiful!

I was in Surpise, AZ, now reside in Spring, TX  my wife just keeps getting promotions...
