stupid question but i got into it with a guy at work about it so i need reaffirmation. on the neon 2.4L dohc head the front cam is the intake cam and the back is the exhaust cam. now if i wanted to advance either cam i would just turn it clockwise right? the guy at work was telling me that counter clockwise is advancing and i didnt think he was right. i know the cams both turn the same direction on that engine and he seemed to think the cam gears were interlocked and turned opposite one another, another fact i dont think is true. please tell me i'm not crazy, i'm trying to do all my research before i embark on a 16 valve hybrid motor this summer.

Yes, if you turn the cam clockwise, (forward in relation to crankshaft rotation) you're advacing the cam.

The Neon's have the intake at the front, exhaust at the back.

Now, if you have a 2.0 in a DSM, the intake is at the back and the exhaust is at the front,
