wife just called and said she was coming around a turn and car just shut off . she says it will turn over but wont start . it has the 3100 in it and its a auto . where should i start ? she needs this car monday morning . it is raining out if that matters . car is being towed to our house now 50 miles

Check the basics, spark and fuel pressure-the schrader fitting is on the fuel rail-should be around 40 psi. If you have those-its mechanic time. If you don't have fuel-99.9% its the pump, if you have no spark, it could be cam and or crank sensors, module or coil packs or even the computer.

her dad told her to get it towed to the dealer so they did . i dont have to mess with it now just pay a huge bill prob .lol

fwiw 60degreev6.com is a GREAT source of info on those engines although turbovanman had you right on track :thumb: i had been wanting to get a newer car soon and had my eyes on the '97+ Malibu. really nice looking cars IMO and i'm a huge fan of the GM 660 anyway :p

what did the problem turn out to be?

Check ignition switch...Had a couple of these blow the igition switch causing
half the fuse panel to loose power..

it was the 430 $ fuel pump . cant just buy the pump ,have to buy the whole get up . 747$ total

Thats cheap, the trucks are around $750, that hurts. :eek: :censored:

I am never going to be able to own another car, am I? I don't think I could afford to fix the darn things. Lord knows I have two of them that don't run out back right now.

i really didnt wanna fix it anyway . it looked like a big mess under the hood . fix i cant see the ground when i look at the motor than i dont wanna mess with it .lol
