Why do the stockers have a wedge and some aftermarket ones look like our 2.2/2.5 pistons?

The SRT-4 piston was designed that way for better off-boost throttle response. It's not ideal for a performance application.

I was told by the tech training developer the ramp was to promote combustion turbulence for more predictable combustion and better idle quality. The n/a version has the same dome it's just higher in the bore. So yeah, better off boost performance.

In layman's terms: In order to get rid of that irritating engine miss at idle.:)
