Has anyone blown the exhaust gasket with a TU header? I blew the gasket on my 2.5. I did have high EGT's at first (peaked at 1700 - 2.5 g-head) but the leak started after I got them under control.

A few have but they were earlier models. I would contact Chris.

I have a later one with the split flange. The mounting holes were a little off and it did not slide on but was drawn in when I tightened it. When I pull it I am going to file out the holes so it fits better. I am guessing it wasnt fully seated against the head and this is why it blew.

Did you check to see if the flange was flat before installing it?

Are you sure it hasn't cracked at the welds?

It is definately comming from between the head and header under cylinder 1 and 2. You can see the black on the block and I started it up on the lift to verify it (Love my remote starter). You can actuially see the piece where the gasket is missing. I am going to pull it in the next week or two and change the gasket. The nuts worked themselves loose a little so that probabily didnt help either.

i would certainly make sure it is flat before re-installing it. usally doesnt cost much to have it cleaned up.

The problem can occur when someone trues the surface incorrectly. Just make sure the thickness of the flange remains constant on both sections of the bolt hole. If one section is thinner then the other there will be less pressure on that side and a leak will occur. Nuts loosening up will also cause leaks. For the best results use the factory exhaust nuts.
