Funny guys, guess I should have said its for a Cobalt, which has a 2.2 litre. keeping the factory cat, resonator and 1.75 inch exhaust. He just wants something louder than stock, they are way too quiet.

Perhaps try discarded OE parts of a Cobalt SS Supercharged. They were a bit more freeflow than other Cobalts... still sound raspy tho. Blech..
I think the only thing that can make a 4 banger sound good is a rotary muffler (turbocharger)

Good idea on the SS muffler.
As for mufflers on N/A cars, there are some good ones, Flowmasters sound good, my Quad 4 with a Flowmaster sounded mean, no rasp there.
I am going to phone Magnaflow and see if they will sell the muffler on its own, they won't, bastards so I think I'll get a Flowmaster, they recommend this one and it sounds nice-
